View Full Version : I'm sick :(
Urgh...they (everyone in my family) just got over the nasty chest cold and somehow I avoided it. Well, I started with a sore throat this morning and felt achy and chilly all day. I just took my temp and it is 101 (and I never get a fever). I am thinking either the Flu or Strep throat. I hope not strep because I don't have health care and can't get antibiotics. Plus, Mia is pretty grumpy today, so maybe she has it too. Poor thing is just getting over a double ear infection. She has the flu shot, so she shouldn't get it if it is that. So, everyone cross your fingers for the flu, not strep ;)
I can't miss GA tonight even though I am exhausted, so I am going to tough it out until it is over!!!
And, I don't know how I am going to take care of the kids tomorrow! Maybe my mom will come by and double up on the purell!!

That just sucks when you get sick but still have to take care of the kids! Have you had strep before? Because if you have, you would know if that is what is going on, it is supposed to be really hard on adults for some reason? I hope you get better soon!!!

I hope you're feeling better soon! We are still battling the plague here. My best advice, is to lay on the couch, let the kids watch as many movies as they want and just try to rest. I hope your mom can help you out.
ugh, that sucks. I'm sick with a head cold (still.. ugh) and jr has a stomach virus.
The verdict is: Strep :( Mia was up all last night so I took her in this morning and the culture was positive. I think she is just at the very beginning becuase she seems OK so far. At least she will get some anti's and feel better quickly and once jacob shows any sign we can get him some too. Unfortunately John and I have it pretty bad, but can't get to a doc, so hopefully it will clear up on its own...

FWIW... I've actually heard that it's just as effective to *not* antibiotic the strep... Dh's doctor says he won't prescribe anti's. Something about different strep strains being naturally there anyway. I know that doesn't make it hurt less. Sorry you're sick!! :(
that stinks! I'm sorry it's strep! :hug

When I was a kid and all of us were sick (there were 6 of us kids, I'm the oldest) including my parents, we would all get in sleeping bags in the living and watch movies or sleep. My mom says it was all she could do to keep an eye on all of us and get some rest on the couch at the same time. Good luck with getting well.

Sorry you're sick Sara :( Hope you're feeling at least a little better and hope Mia's meds keep her from too sick.
I've only had strep once in my whole life... My car was in the shop after someone hit me and it was right before Christmas. I was supposed to spend it with my sister down in Santa Barbara. Because the wreck happened so close to Christmas I couldn't afford or even get a plane ticket... so I had to ride the Greyhound bus for 13 hours! When I finally got to SB I was sick as a dog from breathing the same germy air for so long. Definitely one of the worst experiences of my life.
Yeah, feels like I am swallowing razor blades. It is a *little* better today, so hopefully it will get better from here. Luckily Jacob doesn't show any signs yet. We will see though...thanks for the well wishes and sympathy!!
Wow, Sara! I'm sorry your so sick. There is nothing worse than taking care of kids when your sick!
