Anyone's kids ever have Roseola? I'm wondering if Dorian may have it. He woke up restless and saying his head hurt the other night, and I gave him some Motrin for it, but not long after that he threw it up. Since then he's had a fever that sometimes seems to respond to Motrin, sometimes doesn't. I don't have a real accurate thermometer, but I think his temp's been around 103-104 without meds. This morning I gave him Motrin, he seemed to be feeling better for a couple of hours, then his temp was back up to 102 way before the Motrin should have worn off. He just seems absolutely miserable, though at one point yesterday while he was on Motrin the fever went down to normal and he was playing and happy. He doesn't really have any other symptoms - no cough or sore throat like the flu. He tends to barf at the onset of a fever, so I don't think it's an actual stomach bug. So for those of you who've experienced Roseola, how long did it take for the fever to break and the rash to appear? Or, any other ideas on what he may have?

Both of my boys have had it. Along the line of 6 - 8 months old. Fever of 103 up and down for 3 days and then gone but then the rash comes in. No other symptoms though...since Dorian is older I dunno if things would be different?

Hope he gets better soon! :hug

Both of my kids have had it. They both had a day or two of high fever (103). No vomiting from what I remember. Then a week or so of a rash with the high fever.

I know there is something going around right now. At Ava's preschool its a cough, runny nose and sometimes fever. I have seem a lot of SCMers say their kids have high fever right now but haven't seen any posts about rashes. I think it's just a bug going around.

Search the threads a bit, this has come up before. Roseola is one of things that pretty much everyone has had whether we know it or not. I don't *think* mine have but maybe they just had such a light case that I thought it was any other virus :dunno

Maverick had it December 2007. He was 15 months old. He had a fever of between 103-105 up and down between there (about 102 with piggy backing of tylenol and motrin) for about 3-5 days, then the fever broke at night, and the next morning he was COVERED in red bumpy rash head to toe! Worst on chest, back, and tummy!

The rash lasted about 5 days....it started to fade on his arms and face and legs on about day 3....which was good because we were getting on a cruise ship that day! :rolleyes

Mav and Noelle have had MANY viral rashes other than Roseola, but those all looked different than the obvious roseola rash!

Noelle has not had Roseola. Hmmm go figure!

My older boys both had it but not Charlie. I think you can give tylenol and motrin at the same time to help keep his fever down. I hope he feels better soon. :hug

He never got a rash, so I guess it wasn't roseola. The fever finally broke sun night/mon morning, I kept him home Mon and he was much better tues. Just some random virus I guess.
