Ok, so I was reading the other poll on how old we are here and the topic of weight came up.
:rant
Ok, yes, I will admit, I'm overweight. I don't like it, but I am.
Part of me being overweight is my Thyroid. It's Hypo, not Hyper. Almost wish it was hyper, then maybe I would be skinny. :) I'm not trying to make excusses, but at least I know part of it is medical as to why I'm overweight.
I have to agree, there are days that I feel even more so. And feeling bloated doesn't help any. Dan and I want to have another kid, so I've made a deal with myself. Loose weight = another kid.
So, with that said, I started The Best Life Diet. By Bob Green - Oprah's weight loss dude. I even bought the book. I started Feb 1st. Dan and I have been to the gym more this month, and I'm feeling great! Plus, I sleep better. This rain is not helping since I like to walk outside.
Can I rant somemore? About women's pants? Maybe that should be another thread since it is 11:25pm and I should get to bed now.

I lost a good amount of weight while taking a vitamin called Seasilver last year. I ran out and my budget got tight due to the holidays initially then the lack of hours at work so I was not able to afford to replace my stash. I did not gain any weight back, but just found out that the company after like 14 years closed it's doors.
My plan was to lose weight, and as income allowed, get a gym membership and get my body in really good shape so that my next pregnancy and delivery is perhaps easier. The last one was pretty hard on me/us and I was in horrible shape when I got pregnant. But with my first, I was in the best shape of my life and just soared right through the pregnancy and the delivery with a smile on my face. So I definately want to get in shape before the next, hopefully by the end of this year, pregnancy.
I must say that the weight does make me feel older, because when I was younger I would have never let myself go like this. My biggest issue is not so much the weight, although that is part of it, as it is that skin that hangs down where, my now almost 6 year old, baby used to be.
I have been slightly underweight in appearance my entire life. It is hard being overweight for me. I feel like this skinny person I have always been trapped inside this fat, stretch mark infested, droopy skinned, thunder thy body that came with parenthood! :rant
I am with you all the way! It is time for us to make a stand!
I'm really excited your diet is working for you!
I have yet to find any kind of diet I can stick to. :(
I used to work out at Curves and lost a ton that way, buti just can't keep myself going now - so i don't.
Womens pants DRIEV ME NUTS too Michelle. My reason for hating them is that they don't allow for hips. My hips/butt are several inches bigger than my waist and NOTHING allows for that. They all just go straight up and then the waist is super loose on me if the hips fit. Or the hips are WAY too tight if the waist fits. It makes no sense.
Don't they know, Real Women Have Curves!?

Before i had Kayla i was IMO too skinny. Weighed 108 lbs and was a tiny size 5. After Kayla i ballooned up to a size 14 and eventually to a size 10/12 and never got down again. It wasn't until i really really wanted to have another baby though we had been trying for years that i found a program that worked for me and i lost 35 lbs. I looked and felt great though i was only able to enjoy my new body long enough for a month, buy a new wardrobe and then get pregnant with myah.
It is my goal that once I get the official okay from the doc that i start my Power 90 program again and loose the rest of my baby weight. in the mean time i have been working on what i eat and keep up good eating habits so i don't put on a ton of weight again.

Like you Becky, or at least the "former you", I think I am too thin. People don't get it. IMO it isn't healthy to be able to see bones and stuff. Ideally I would like to be like 115-120. I am 5'4. So I think I need to gain a healthy 10 pounds (haven't got on the scale for a while) to be there. It is hard to gain weight where I need it. I don't need the 10 pounds going to my belly or butt (or arteries) but I need to gain it somehow. Sure I could eat a bunch of fast food and chocolate or whatever but that isn't a healthy weight gain...
Pants don't fit me either!

that was my biggest issue in high school and college. right before myah i was back to the same pant size i was in college but weight 20 lbs more. IMO i was in the best shape since i had so much muscle tone. its one thing to be a size 5 and see bones its another to be a size 5 but have muscles :)

I hate pants! Ok, I have a size 18 pants that were a little loose before I got preggo. Now those pants fit me in the leg part, but I can't zip or button them. Ok, so I'm happy my legs are back down to my pre-preggo weight.
I needed new jeans the other day, so I went to mervyns and got Gloria Vanderbuilt, size 22. I then went to Lane Bryant and bought 2 pairs of the same size. I get home to try them on. LB is to small, yet GV fit me fine in the waist. So, I went back to LB, their size 26 is the same as a 22 at M. Well, I bought the 26, got home and then returned the 26 a few days later, cause I wanted to feel a bit more skinny, size wise. KWIM?
It still bugs me how all the different pant makers can't come up with a same size chart like the men have. Although, can you imagine all the different sizes that would be needed for women? Waist, hip, inseam, bust, under bust, shoulder, neck.

They should make women's pants the same as mens sizes. I recently heard someone say this and I can't remember who. It makes sense though. Dustin can go and try on a 34 x 30 and if they are too small he goes and gets a 36 x 30. I have the same problem as Jackie with the waist issue. If you finally find something that fits your hips it's huge in the waist. If you try a smaller size to make the waist fit better then they are way tight in the legs and ass. Have you tried the curvy fit at the Gap?? I haven't yet but when I go get another pair of jeans I was going to try them on to see if they are any different.
If we are going for weight confessions I have to say I am at my pre-preg. weight but 20lbs from my wedding weight. I would love to be at my wedding weight. When I was that weight I ate nothing and went to the gym 5days/wk 2 hrs/day. I just don't see that happening now physically, mentally or financially.

do you all remember Jordas (sp?) jeans? Those were awesome. they were made perfect for the hips yet still fit a smaller waist. I wish they still made those jeans since they were all that fit be back in the day. I have a pants problem too. I can either get the butt to fit but the waist is too tight or the waist fits but then the butt are just way to saggy. I love Dickie pants but i have to be just the right size for them to fit right.
I hate womens pants too. I can't stand the ultra low rise ones because when I bend down, which I do a lot with the kids, you get a nice butt crack shot. The higher rise ones don't fit my waist because my butt and hips are 'curvy'. I just wish I could get rid of the baby fat that has deposited itself around my stomach, waist and hips. I don't care about weight, I just want to feel better in my clothes and not feel like I constantly have to cover my mid section.
I was pretty skinny 2 times in my life. First when I graduated HS and went into college, I went through a rough break-up. I weighed probably 120 at that time and I am 5'8" medium build. I looked bad. Then right before my wedding (through no doing of my own, probably mostly stress) I was down to a size 4 and about 125lbs. I don't want to be that thin, but to look and feel better about myself would be nice.

I also hate pants. It seems like I can find pants to fit the legs and butt, but when it comes time to zip/button them up, I have to suck in the gut(Seems like that is where all my weight has gone). That of course is not comfortable, so I have to buy a bigger size pants(then I feel huge), so I try and cover it with sweat shirts and big shirts...However, I am working on losing the weight, It just seems like a never ending struggle....

that is so funny. weren't though pants in style in the 80s?
:bag When I was super skinny (103lbs, 5'7.5") I actually liked my build. I never felt "too skinny"... I always thought it was just right.

I think my biggest issue is my hip bones. I have very childbearing hips and when I lay on my back the front hip point stick out A LOT (they even do when I am just standing up) and I feel very anerexic and frail I guess to be able to see bone. Doesn't help that my dh weights 2 times my weight +/- a few pounds, and I don't think he is all that overweight.

I'm always jealous of my daughters pants. Soft cords with adjustable waists!
I feel for everyone who has to fight their weight. I've been very lucky my whole life to have great metabolism but I am also extremely active. My motto is Move More, Eat Less!
I've heard of a book titled something like Why French Women Don't Get Fat. The premise is that they enjoy eating small portions of really yummy food.
As moms we are always eating our kids food. A little here a little there. We don't get or take the time to sit down and enjoy a meal. Food for thought!
I'm off to have cherios!!

I've always had trouble finding pants that fit me too- same big-in-the-waist, small-in-the-butt/thigh issues as the rest of you... and to top it off I'm rather short (5'2) with sorta long legs for someone my height (30" inseam)
I am very overweight. At least 100 pounds over what I'm supposed to be. My BMI is way over in the "morbidly obese" range. <sigh>
Anyway, dh and I joined Weight Watchers at the beginning of the year. I've lost about 7 pounds.
I have issues with pants too. I watch "What Not to Wear" regularly and one of the tips that has stuck with me is that that if you find a pair of pants that you LOVE that fit well in the hips and thighs, but not the waist, spend the extra money to get them altered. I had the length altered on some jeans that I bought and I loved how they fit. As soon as I buy another pear of jeans I'm taking them in to get altered.

Have you tried South Beach? We started recently and I lost 14lbs the first 2 weeks but of course it tends to come off faster the more you have to lose (aka ME!) but even Salina lost like 9lbs in the same time frame and she is only shooting for like 15 total. It isn't extreme IMO, it pretty much followed the same ideas as the diabetic diet when I had GD with Alaina.

Yep, I tried South Beach, Atkins, Jenny Craig, Nutri Systems, and now Weight Watchers. What I *LOVE* about WW is that I can eat whatever I want, I just have to deduct the points.
I had huge success with Atkins (I lost 55 pounds!), but I gained some of it back. My doctor suggested I try South Beach and I couldn't stick to it for more than 3 days. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it for some reason. I like having to count points because it's very clear cut. I only have 31 points to eat for the day. Once I go over that I have to borrow from my weekly allowance of 35 flex points. Once those are gone I'm hosed.
That's fabulous you've lost so much on South Beach! Keep up the good work! :clap
