Facebook for Parents: Answers to the Top 25 Questions

SCDS Contemporary Issues Series is proud to host Linda Fogg Phillips, co-author of Facebook for Parents on Tuesday, January 18 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Jackson Theater. In addition to the informational evening event for parents, Plan to invite your parent friends whose children do not attend SCDS.
Whatever their feelings about Facebook and other social networking media, parents need to think clearly about the phenomenon and know how to support their children who use Facebook. In 2009, Linda Fogg Phillips and her brother, psychologist Dr. B.J. Fogg of Stanford University’s Persuasive Technology Lab, developed a series of classes they taught at the lab to help parents learn more about Facebook. The duo has since followed that popular class with a new book titled Facebook for Parents: Answers to the Top 25 Questions. (http://www.facebookforparents.org)
Linda Fogg Phillips will present tips for healthy parenting in an online world, offer practical advice for parents and educators, and discuss the pitfalls and the advantages of using Facebook.
Mrs. Phillips is the mother of eight children ages twelve to twenty-six. She received a bachelor degree in business from Brigham Young University and lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she owns and manages a sixteen-horse barn. Mrs. Phillips is also writing a second book, which she expects will be published later this year.
SCDS is pleased to host the Contemporary Issues Series, which offers periodic explorations by leading experts of critical topics shaping contemporary life, culture, and community.
