Tia howardvm 01-05-2011, 08:23 PM Do you have Kaiser? With Caitlin at Kaiser, they gave us the option, so she got the nasal spray one. surmick 01-05-2011, 08:27 PM No, we have united healthcare. meeg124 01-05-2011, 08:32 PM Did you try her pediatrician? Colleen&Kail 01-05-2011, 08:47 PM kail got his at his doctors, they offered it there but i had to ask for it. otherwise they would have given him the shot version. surmick 01-05-2011, 08:50 PM They only have the shot and I was trying not give her one this time around. If I don't have another choice then I will but I would like to do the nasal instead. I need to do it this week or early next. My3sonsplus1 01-05-2011, 09:03 PM Isn't the nasal spray the version that sheds for several weeks after getting it? I am not sure you want that one if you are getting it because you will be around someone who is immuno compromised. But research it 'cause I could be wrong. ktjo17 01-05-2011, 09:07 PM My kids couldn't have the nasal spray because my fil is on dialysis and my mil just finished up chemo treatments and we see them all the time. But I think that's only for a week or two...so as long as you get in enough beforehand it should be fine. surmick 01-06-2011, 07:42 AM That is why I need to get it now, we are not going for four weeks. tdonoho 01-06-2011, 11:00 AM My kids got the nasal one from their pediatrician - Dr. Culhane. They have flu clinics on the weekends. I'm not sure if it is limited to their patients or not. I am not sure you want that one if you are getting it because you will be around someone who is immuno compromised. But research it 'cause I could be wrong. you are right as the nasal spray is a "Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine", whereas the injection an "inactivated" vaccine. An attenuated vaccine is a vaccine created by reducing the virulence of a pathogen, but still keeping it viable (or "live"). It's seen as being more effective. |
