Kidpower Classes [Archive] - Sonoma County Moms

Hi everyone! In light of some of the discussions here I was reminded about this FANTASTIC resource for parents that is going on right here in Sonoma County! It is called Kidpower and they are classes offered through community centers that teach kids 4 and up how to say STOP and NO and resist ANY kind of mistreatment. I've been through the classes twice with the girls already and it has been great! It's usually a couple hours on a weekend - WELL WORTH the time and not expensive either. The girls use the language and physical stances they teach (hand out saying stop while saying Stop or I'll tell!) and even TJ at 2 was saying that when he didn't like what was going on. It's GREAT! Click on Services and then California Schedule and you will see they almost always have classes in Pet/SR/Seb area!! GO if your kid is at least 4 and they have special ones for teens AND ADULTS we could all probably use it too, it's wonderful, seriously!!

They came to Jacob's preschool for 2 sessions last month. I think Jacob was a bit young not being 4 yet, but they really taught in a non scary way. The kids were excited about the 'ready position' and Jacob still talks about it. I think if they come back next year he will really understand what it is all about.
