Just wondering what age your baby started, or will start, solid foods. What did you give them, or are planning on giving them?

We start solids later, and it's usually just homemade stuff, whatever we eat mushed up... (i've tried jared baby food... omg no way could I give that to my babe... :thumbsdown )

We started single grain baby rice cereal at 4.5 months because my milk supply did not meet his demand and thus we were nursing every half and hour...even through the night. The cereal helped. Now, we are trying to wait until 6 months (one week from tomorrow) to try other stuff. We are planning on Avocado and bananas first...Im so excited to see what he thinks! I may go ahead with some of it sometime next week...its only a few days difference. We just wanted to wait until 6 months as best as we could to help prevent allergies. I do love the ease of nursing I have to say. It will be hard to adjust to regular food eating....but I'm still going to nurse until he doesn't want to and or I'm not able to for some reason.

Was he totally ready for it all at 4 months, Jackie? Or did he do the tongue thrust thing?

I started both my kids on the rice/cereal(only way Tyler would eat it was with fruit in it) and the solids around 4 months. They both also nursed as well.

I said 6-9 mo. Elias is a tad under 6 mo now and I intend to wait until then at least then. I am not sure I can see waiting until 9 mo as he is so socially ready to eat. When he does start it will be straight to "table foods", we don't do baby rice/oat/barley cereal. I will likely just do "adult" oatmeal ground up a bit more, avacado, applesauce, banana. Banana will likely be his first food w/ or w/o oatmeal as those two tend to be a staple around here lately.

If I remember correctly I tried Alaina one solids a week or two before she was 6mo and it was the rice cereal which she didn't like so I tried it and figured out pretty quick why so I chucked it. We did some homemade stuff and some jarred, simple things at first of course like they recommend but I got lax about it later on as far as introducing peanuts, wheat, etc mostly because she never had a reaction to anything else and no one in our family has food allergies other than Salina's mild reaction to dairy. Anyhoo, although we started her at 6mo-ish, she didn't really start eating much until maybe 8 or 9mo so up until then it was like one afternoon "snack" where she wore more than what ended up in her tummy.

We started Baby E eating cereal when he was 7 months... He did not like anything (cereal, produce, jarred food) at first... but now is a true porker no matter what it is... He eats baby food and some other stuff like Ritz crackers... which he just gums to death since he doesn't have any teeth yet :D

Still no teeth? Alaina didn't get hers until 10.5mo and then all at once so he could be getting them soon :)

He can wait as long as he likes for those teeth as far as I am concerned! I love his silly gummy smile! Although... I like the 2 bottom teeth look too... But I'm scared when he gets teeth he might start to bite me!! Ouch!

I plan to start Sequoia at about 6 months (she's just barely 3 mos now). I may start sooner if I end up going back to work because my relationship with my breast pump has not been good lately. She already seems interested. She watches me so intently whenever I eat anything. I think she may just be concerned about the food's disappearing act!

i think we started about 6 months with rice cereal and then moved on to veggies.

As for the teeth, Myah had her first birthday and still didn't have one tooth in her mouth. I thought for sure god forgot to give her some becuase she was the last baby in her class to get her first tooth. It was great for me since i was still BFing but when she got her teeth they all came in at once. Poor fussy baby and boy could she bite. luckily she never drew blood.

So, we just couldn't wait to start Mav on Bananas! He didn't like them as much as I thought he would. We are going to keep trying though. In a few days we will add something else like maybe avocado.
