St. John's Catholic Church in Healdsburg just started a Young Adult Group! This group is for anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 (although ID's aren't checked, if you're a little older, it's for you, too!). All that is required is that you are interested in learning about what the Catholic Church teaches and why it teaches what it does with an open mind and heart. A willingness to participate in discussions is also good.
This is a GREAT place for people who were raised Catholic, have stopped going to church, but are wondering if they should go back. It is also a wonderful first stop for adults who are considering becoming Catholic. For those of you who may be active Catholics who are strong in your faith, it is also a wonderful place to expand on your knowledge and make some new friends!
We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm in the John Paul II room. If you have questions, feel free to post here or email me at youngadults@stjohnshealdsburg.org. I'm the leader, so feel free to ask away!

I am Catholic and I would love to check out the group! I have to be honest and say that since moving to the USA 6 years ago I stop going to church :bag I have a 4 year old and we want to raise him Catholic. Both his father and myself come from Catholic families.

We would love to see you! This would be a great place to get reacquainted with the faith. I understand how children can inspire you to go back. My 2-year-old definitely caused me to explore my faith more closely.
This week we will be watching a film discussing "What Every Catholic Needs to Know about the Bible." If you need directions or more information, let me know!

This coming Tuesday evening, Sanctuary (the Catholic Young Adult Group) will be having a game night. This is a great evening just to come and meet other young Catholics in a friendly, non-intimidating environment. People are invited to bring their favorite games with them!

I forgot to post for last night! Just to let people know the sorts of things we are doing, last night we watched the first installment of an 8-part series on Theology of the Body. This is what the Catholic Church ACTUALLY teaches about marriage and sexuality, presenting the "why" behind so many of the miss-understood standpoints of the Catholic Church. We will be further exploring this topic the first Tuesday of each month for the upcoming 7 months. It is very eye-opening. I was amazed the first time I was exposed to this theology, and so much about human nature just makes more sense now.
This coming Tuesday, we will be exploring Martin Luther and the Reformation from a Catholic perspective. We will look at the state of affairs in Germany at the time of the Reformation, as well as looking at Martin Luther's theories themselves, including why they don't make sense for Catholics. This is a topic most Catholics have not really delved into, and it should be a wonderful evening.

This Tuesday at Sanctuary for Young Adults, we will be starting a 9-part Bible Study exploring the Book of James. I'm looking forward to examining this book, which is full of practical tips for living a good, holy life.

Tomorrow night, we will be discussing the Sacrament of Reconciliation, both the Sacrament itself and how to prepare for the Sacrament.
