I am a member of SCHA, and in the past 3 or 4 newsletters there has been an ad for Kidspot, in Sebastopol. They are looking for volunteers who are willing to volunteer in exchange for FREE admission throughout the month.
Before starting my daycare I had inquired and they were only asking for around 3 hours on Fridays. I expressed that I could not do every Friday, and they offered me every other Friday from 9 am to 12 pm. I was told that I would have been help to organize and clean up gthe Art area. You can bring your kids with you too!
I just thought I would share this info with you Mamas on a budget, who were interested in checking out Kidspot.

Does anyone here take their kids to Kidspot currently? What do you like/dislike about it. I have been asked before what it is and never knew. I really can't do it, but I could pass along info to others who are intersted.

Kidspot is a lot of fun! They have a huge arts and crafts area with really nice materials (paints, coloring stuff, etc), they have a stage and dress up clothes, they have an awesome play kitchen (one of Caden's favorites), huge train table, puppet theatre, giant doll house and a big touch tank with starfish and other cool sea life. There is a baby area that has a lot of fun baby toys. However, I probably would not be willing to pay the admission fee for a baby and parent, as a little guy/girl will not get as much out of it.
Caden always has fun when we go there. I don't take him very often because I find it kind of irritating that parents are charged admission also. I did hear that Paloma was trying to sell Kidspot but I'm not sure what has happened with that.

Really, parents have to pay too? Hmmmm. Interesting. I did not know that.

okay what's up with charging for the parent to get it...its not like you are going to drop off your kid and come back for them in a couple hours. i can understand charging per kid but really, not the parent.

Yeah I would only go to Kidspot if I had the time to volunteer there. The prices are a bit much, especially for the parent who would not be doing much to need to pay admission. Like I said it is FREE for the whole month that you volunteer there.

I've been once when the RPCMC had a outing there. If I remember correctly the adults got a discounted rate. I probably won't go back just because of having to pay for adult to enter.

I agree that it's stupid to charge parents. I believe that the children are $6 so if the pricing were to change I'd bet kids would be $10 and adults free.
Kidspot is a cool place to play. Everything is good quality. My daughter loves the art supplies and kitchen stuff. If you haven't been it's worth checking out. Anyone who is a member of the Santa Rosa Mothers Club can go Wednesday mornings $4/kid & adults for free.
Maybe SCM should do an outing there. I'm sure the owner would offer a great price break.
