Okay, not some of those would be ones to describe other things too. LOL

Mav has a GREAT memory, like scary great.

Love lists like this that get some parents all excited that their kid is some genius! :rolleyes

It's so vague!

Me and my hubby looked at the list and snickered. We both agreed that Kayden is a genius and we didn't need a stinking list :giggle

It may seem strange, but I don't want my kids to be "super geniuses." Smart, you bet. Gifted, oh yeah. I just know a couple kids who are off the chart - 2 of my nephews. One of them is still a little sweetheart, but he's really immature for his age, and he has serious problems keeping up socially with his peers. The other one...he'll never get along with his peers. He's actually been diagnosed with a "social disorder." I'd much rather dream my kids are at the top end of normal on the intelligence scale (not above it) and are socially gifted...

I'm totally with you on that one! We want Andy to be great socially. If he's at the top end of normal he will do very well in life. If he's more intelligent than that that is okay too, but I just want him to succeed in life.

I don't think you can generalize that all "super geniuses" have social issues or will not be socially successful. And you can't say that a kid with social and communication problems (autism) will not be socially successful in life. Sure they may struggle and it may be more difficult for a person with autism vs someone who is nuerotypical but that doesn't mean they aren't successful. And according to Caden, if you have autism that automatically means you're a genius :lol

I'm not talking about autism, which I consider something completely different. Neither of my nephews is autistic, they're just annoying or immature! I still love them, and I'm sure they'll be successful adults. I just know the battles their parents are facing (we talk regularly about them), and I'm not sure I have the strength for it! One of them took calculus in 6th grade, and both have been reading "adult" books since 3rd or 4th grade. The "immature" one read (and completely understood!) The Hobbit in 1st grade. The Lord of the Rings in 2nd grade.
