Anyone been here? On the way back from Tahoe we saw this place. You pick your own veggies. It's on the corner of Frates and Old Adobe Road. Maybe a good place for a field trip?

What is it exactly?

Not exactly sure. I assume you just go and pick your own veggies. They don't have a website yet. All it says is directions. It looked just like a farm though. Maybe DH, Ava and I will check it out in a few weeks and let everyone know how it goes.

depending on price, I think it would be awesome! On a side note, matt just finished the fence in the backyard blocking the dogs from having full access, so tomorrow I'm gonna do some planting... yaaay!

We were there about a month ago and it wasn't pick your own at that time because it is like 100+ acres but maybe some of the stuff by the store will be? I asked them to point out there boundries because I didn't know what 100 acres looked like and it goes up into the hills. They are all organic and stuff but I think they were about the same price as the grocery store? We got this big italian broccoli that looks like a green cauliflower with cork screw spikes and a big purple cabbage to make coleslaw and it was like $4 total? They had other typical winter stuff: potatoes, leeks, etc.

What are you going to plant Kelly?? I saw they had some summer veggies out already at Lowe's today but I was thinking it was a little early? I had intended to experiment with some cool weather stuff like lettuce, peas, and broccoli but I just couldn't bring myself to muck around outside in the cold, I am a weenie :D

We are going to have a garden this year too. Not going to start for a few months though. I think we will have: strawberries, tomatoes, zuccini, corn, carrots...not sure what else. Jacob is really looking forward to it.

This is our third year so I hope we don't have any flops like last year in our yard! The watermelon totally flopped for us, one little tennis ball sized melon grew and then rotted so we aren't doing that one again. Our zuke went nuts and overtook everything else so this year we are planing the yellow squash and zuke plant by themselves away from everything else :) We are going to try the bean teepee this year that we couldn't find a spot for last year, that should be fun! And of course tomatoes everywhere. Oh and lemon cucumbers! We didn't do strawberries though because I read you are supposed to do like 10 plants per person?? We just don't have that much space.

we had corn growing up... sooo good, but I also remember finding so many caterpillars in them... i'm a bit more squimish now, though, which is why we're passing on the corn this year...lol

We are going to grow corn this year...I'll let you know how it goes.
We are also planting a few kinds of squash, letuce, tomatoes, pumpkins, peppers, about 10 different herbs, and the hopyard too of course. I think I'm also going to go get a dwarf lemon tree soon too. YEAH!

Yeah, those corn worms are just gross! We tried corn 2 years ago but apparently you have to plant quite a large patch for proper cross pollination or all the kernals won't develop but I tried to get away with only 10 plants and it didn't work.

Lorah- do you know how long it would take for a lemon tree to start producing?

I am thinking it is still a bit early too?? But 2 weeks ago we were out working in the garden and I noticed on the side of the house that some peas had started to grow on there own without any seeds having been planted??!? In the rocks! Reminds me that I should check on the ones I planted in the garden, but I never watered them ecept for the first day :bag?!
