That is so awesome that she stopped! I have been reading the book Too Safe for Strangers to my older boys in the hopes that they'll know what to do it they're ever approached like that.

That is really scary! Major kudos to that mom who stopped to make sure everything was fine! So many people wouldn't bother.

http://www.snotr.com/video/5821/Bystander_Effect_-_people_watch_girl_being_abducted This is an old video apparently but two people posted on dh's fb about it. So sad most people just walk on by. I am 95% sure I would "do something" even at first it was the "quiet observing" thing they talk about. Being a mom to many different personalities I've "seen it all" and am the mom offering to help wrangle a misbehaving child (you know the one mom says it is time to go and they run yo the slide mom goes to get them lather rinse repeat with that game) I will either ask mom if she needs help or passively stand at the end of the slide. I never touch the child but my presence alone seems to surprise them enough for mom to regain control. Any sort of conflict flusters me and I notice it and pause to reflect what my instincts are saying to me. Kudos to this mom for going "above and beyond even" and scanning her surroundings and taking note. The kids had yet to make a true fuss but were giving enough weird vibes that she noticed and reacted.

That's a good story. This mom has been through My Gym with her kids. She has a younger daughter too. Nice lady.

Glad things worked out. As a teacher, I tend to notice kids (often my students) around town. I have pulled over to check on kids before. Never a predator situation but I have noticed unsafe behavior. I recently stopped when a kid darted out in front of my car. We quickly talked about why that wasn't safe and how he could have dealt with it better. Granted he was one of my third graders.

Totally scary! So glad she got out and started to talking to the children. Wish they would find that guy that was talking to them though because he's probably going to do it again to someone else:(

I got goosebumps reading that. So glad she stopped. I wonder how many cars passed by and questioned the scenario before she got there.
