Several years ago I had learned that its possible to change the shape of bokeh. I have never tried it myself but tonight after I set up our Christmas tree I decided to see what I could do. The resulting image is my avatar photo. You can see it larger here (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150508487747990&set=a.142055227989.141738.73754342989&type=1&ref=nf).
I used a couple strands of purple lights for the bokeh in the background and had my oldest hold a lamp to serve as a "spot light" for Jack & Sally. There were no other lights on in the room and my lens was wide open at f/1.4. I'm really pleased with how this turned out and wanted to share. :thumb

Had to google what bokeh meant.
I thought it was a way how to edit out ex's from pictures or something. :giggle

nice job :thumb Thanks :) I keep forgetting too and say I will do it every year when I get the xmas tree up but then never do :lol
If you already have a lens hood just attach the black paper to that. So much easier than trying to make a paper lens hood. I found it does block out a lot of light and with my room being so dark even with the shutter W-I-D-E open I had to really bump all the settings in camera. Still I think its cool to get the bokeh into those hearts without any PS work :)
