So, Matt is sick.. nothing contagious-sick, but he has (according to the ER dr, the clinic dr's still aren't sure they agree) Vasculitis, which is an infection within the blood vessels.. he has a TON of sores/bumps all over his legs, arms, trunk and some on his face. When it first started he just had a bump on his arm, and one on his leg (friday), Saturday it was all over his arms, and a couple on his legs, and then sunday it was everywhere else... it looks so gross (LOL, poor Matt) but they're not *really* sores, as in they aren't oozing or anything... ugh, I dunno, just sucks when he gets sick and can't work, cus it's like having another baby in the house, and it's not like we can really afford him taking much time off (but when he's sick, what can ya do, huh?)
ugh.. anyway, that's why I haven't been around the past few days...
He's now on Steroids to help with the muscle and joint pain, and on Vicadin for the other pain ( he hurts a lot right now from it, said it feels like a super bad sunburn all over, hurt to have the bed sheet on, even)

OMG Kellie! I will keep him and you all in my prayers!!! I am sorry he feels so yucky!!!
How did he get it? Is it a stress related illness? Or just something you can get anytime, or what?
I'm sorry!

They have no idea how he got it , but they said that the stomach virus he had about a month ago and the cold he's had for about a week could have weakened his immune system enough to make him suseptable (sp?) to it... but they don't know how people get it (at leat, the dr's we spoke with don't)

I will say a prayer for you guys. Asher came down with an ear ache this morning and I am about to spork my brains out with him crying, Ben taking the oppurtunity to rip up books and coloring (with the sliver of a crayon he found hiding in the toy box) on the train table right in front of me 'cause he knows I am busy with Asher (and then crying because I ask him to stop and then stop him) and Elias fussing the normal wants attention/time for a nap cry all at the same time. Hope it passes soon. Sounds like he's had it for a while though...

Oh wow Kellie, I don't think I have ever heard of that illness before but it makes a lot of sense why he would be hurting all over. Do they have him on antibiotics too? Do you have stuff to boost his immune system on hand?
Lisa- I have some homeopathic ear drops and another remedy if you need it or a store run for something else? I dunno if you guys do Tylenol/Advil too.

I started with an herbal heating compress (which he fights), then gave him some homeopathic tabs (don't know if they did diddly) and finally the "hard stuff", Motrin. Ear pain is one thing I have a hard time dealing with because my kids scream and screetch and rithe around and don't let me know how to help them so I don't mind so much doing the Motrin thing then. He is napping now with the compress on him. I figure it is a lot better than me having a mental breakdown. Motrin is the one that is more aligned with alleviating pressure right?! I give it so infrequently I can't recall which it is that is supposed to be better and the only Tylenol we have has red dye and I am not sure I feel like dealing with red dye crazy once the meds wear off/during if Motrin is as good or better and is available :nut
I do need to get some ear drops. I had/(have?? I may have tossed) some but the dropper like desinegrated so you couldn't you know like ADMINISTER THEM, they just taunted me :)
Hopefully we will get the the f'ing store tonight (said for the past like 5 days I think). I need to make a list so we can do it quick style :)
Now that he is resting though *I* am feeling better as well. He has been acting way "off" the past few days... hopefully this is the peak of the ick and it will start subsiding.

Lynnette, no antibiotics.. the dr said there isn't anything that can be done to cure the disease itself, but that hopfully the steriods will help the blood vessels repair themselves, so the sores will go away... I have been pumping him full of vit c, A and D (cus that's what we have...lol) so I'm hoping it will do something... his legs have been so swollen, though! like, he sits down and takes off his sock, and his calf is about twice the size above the sock line than it is below... it's just a weird thing he has goin on...

Thank you all! He said he's feeling a little better tonight, the swelling in his legs has gone down a lot, so he's thinking of going in to work tomorrow.. I told him to call me if he's in pain or can only do a half day and I could come get him ( don't want him driving or working if he's in enough pain to take the vicodin) but the test will be how he feels once he's home tomorrow...
