Salina is having 6 teeth pulled (4 wisdom) on Thursday morning so I am looking for ideas of things she can eat during recovery. We both agreed that although every says, "Oh boy, you get all the ice cream you want!" she knows that will get really old, really fast. Any ideas?? I am making a grocery list so I can shop tommorrow and have everything on hand.

I had all four wisdom teeth out at the same time. I ate ice cream, soup for the first day then graduated to toast, yogurt and some soft fruits.

All I can remember is being so sick of sweet stuff like ice cream, pudding, and jello that I ate some pork fried rice probably a little to soon but it tasted like manna from heaven it was so great to have something savory!

aside from overcooking pasta for M&C or spaghetti w/sauce...

Make whatever you're making for the rest of you.. and throw it in the blender or food processor... I have oral surgery in middle school and had my mouth wired.. had to eat "soft foods" for 8 weeks.. needless to say.. I lost all of my "baby fat"..

Also for nutrition.. you could give her carnation instant breakfast drinks or something like it so that she doesn't lose the nutrients of foods

OMG Lynette this is freaky, Fallon is having 4 teeth pulled Thursday morning. LOL 2 front top and bottom - getting ready for braces. So we are facing the same thing. I hadn't even thought this far ahead to figure out what foods she can eat. Guess I better go shopping too! LOL

These poor girls :) We ended up getting stuff for smoothies, some potatoes for mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, some sweet potatoes that I can bake and mash but she really didn't want ice cream/yogurt, she said lately it has been giving her a stomach ache. Oh, and some broccoli and cheese soup with is pretty smooth so we will just strain it :)

I hope Fallon has an easy time of things this AM!!! They are putting Salina under so they said she can't eat anything after midnight so of course I had to tease her this morning and ask if she wanted to go out for pancakes :D

OMG we just got back and she is in bad shape!! She looks horrible, I feel so bad! Mainly because of the numbing I think but she is PISSED OFF I don't think she was expecting to feel so bad afterwards. We got a juice shack smoothie on the way home but she is so numb she can't swallow, I had to force some liquid advil down here and pray she didn't puke it back up she was gagging so bad. Her whole face is just drooping, she looks awful. I am sure she will feel a lot better later but ugh I feel like a mean Mommy!! They told us gulp-able food only till MONDAY.

They didn't put her under general but she had a valium 30 min before then nitrous oxide and novacaine. They removed the little mini molars next to the eye teeth.

This was not fun but I know (hope) she will thank me later when she has a perfect smile!!

oh yucko! I take it you will be home tommorrow? Had you originally planned on being home? Hope she feels better soon! Make sure she has no access to straws. If she forgets she could end up in deep doo-doo esp. if she already feeling the yuck. I want to say the pain peaks at like 24 or 48 hours!! Is she going to be okay for Casha's thing tommorrow?

Now we wait on Salina's report....

No I am teaching tomorrow and they told her she can go to school tomorrow and that it's business as usual after today. They said she will be fine by tonight. Maybe I should make up sub plans just in case. I'd LOVE the day off for a million other reasons anyway, but it is bad timing, open house on the horizon! For Casha's thing if she is really not feeling well she can just stay up in her room, I am going to block off the upstairs anyway - no time/energy to clean up up there. LOL

She also has a band performance Saturday - I haven't had the heart to tell her she may not be able to do that, we will play it by ear. She just auditioned and made it into "advanced band" yesterday and is So excited.

Well what does she play? Wind instruments are definately out as I would think they are the same idea as the no straw thing. If you are planning on her going to school in the morning then she needs to rest rest rest!! :)

Who did you guys go to? That is about how Salina looked and felt but they put her under because they were taking the wisdom teeth at the same time. Poor thing is a lightweight with drugs so I almost had to carry her into the office and then out again but she was all weepy and upset until she got some pain meds and now she is starting to puff up.

Probably the difference being the general? I am happy to report that about 2:30 when the novacaine wore of she perked up enough to eat and by 6 she was up and heading out to do homework! She is talking on the phone now and just about back to normal except for the eating thing. We are smushing up some hot dogs for her tonite. Tomorrow she will go to school and bring some of those nouriche smoothies.

I did call the Dr. about the Clarinet and he said stay off it forf 2 days and if she feels like it she can perform Saturday. We went to Dr. Tolin in SR he is awesome, we used him with Alia a couple years ago too. He just called about a half hour ago to see how she was doing. She really liked him, he was chatty! I don't think she remembers how bad she was feeling at first, she is really acting like nothing happened now! Whew!

That's great :) Salina was telling me the doctor told her the bicuspids (the little molars behind the canines) are supposed to have the shortest roots so are easy to pull and when we went he made us watch a video about the wisdom teeth being hard because of the location but hers weren't fully developed yet so it shouldn't be as bad. I hope!

Salina is well enough now to tell me that the Tooth Fairy needs to come through big time for 6 teeth and the yucky way she had to lose them ;) They let her keep them, they are so gross!!
