We are going to my brother's house for a BBQ Sunday and we are bringing the salad. My SIL is always very creative with her food. Very Martha Stewart like. Does anyone have a good salad that isnt the norm but isnt too unusual??

Thanks! :hungry

How about broccolli salad? I haven't made this recipe yet, but want to for our BBQ coming up:

Broccoli salad is good :) My recipe is a little different in that there is no cheese, no onions, and I add toasted almonds but it is one of those salads you can tweak to your tastes because I have had it with sunflower seeds and grapes before too.

A sweet green salad I make when the rest of the meal is more salty/savory is baby spinach, candied walnuts, mandarin orange slices, dried cranberries and some raspberry vinagrette.

And everyone seems to like a good Caesar salad :)

we have a family recipe taco salad that is always a hit :)
iceburg lettuce sliced very thin
1 can ranch style beans with the juice drained but not rinsed
half block grated chedder cheese
1 tomato diced
1/2 purple onion diced
1 small can olives diced
half a bag of crushed fritos
mix it all up with catalina dressing to taste :)

It's always a hit in our family...or any gatherings we have brought it too....lately I have been adding seasoned ground beef as well....

Just throwing it out there :)

yum that sounds so good Brooke. So I'm going to have to have a BBQ at my house and request you bring that over with you and your family :)

I do a very easy salad that is always a hit.

Heart of Romaine lettuce
Dried cranberries
Toasted pecans ( you can spice these if you want to go all out)
Good crumbled blue cheese (danish is my fav)
and Briannas' Poppy seed dressing (it has a peach on the bottle)

if you get the lettuce in a bag and toast the pecans in advance you can make it in under 3 min. :)

I am a big 30 min meal type gal

We use Romaine Lettuce, or Spinach, or both. Then add cherry tomatoes, cucumber, diced avocado, raisins or cranberries, Feta or Parmesan Cheese, olive oil or italian dressing.
