Ok so I would like to know, from those of you who get Mani-Pedi's, where do you go, what do you pay and tip, and does the polish chip soon after?

View Full Version : Mani - Pedi? justamom 05-15-2007, 02:53 PM Ok so I would like to know, from those of you who get Mani-Pedi's, where do you go, what do you pay and tip, and does the polish chip soon after? meeg124 05-15-2007, 03:03 PM The first pedicure I got was from the shop that is on the south end of the Raley's and post office building in RP. I think I paid $18 and tipped $4 (he was young and hot, what can I say?). The polish lasted at least a month (maybe more) before I had any kind of chips, except for my big toe that I kicked a table on accident and actually broke the toenail, a couple of days after getting the pedicure. My second pedicure I got at the strip mall across from Target. That whole experience wasn't as good and within a couple of weeks the polish started to chip. karen-clark 05-15-2007, 06:34 PM I like Nails on the 101, between RP and Cotati on that street along the freeway? They are really clean and it feels great! justamom 05-15-2007, 06:49 PM I went to Nancy's Nails behind McDonalds in RP. I paid $37, including the tip. This was on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning 2 fingernails were chipped. Today all of them are chipped horribly. alowe 05-15-2007, 07:31 PM Fingernail polish never lasts for me. I don't even spend money on manicures anymore cause they are chipped in no time. I do my own manicures and only spend money on pedicures cause they seem to last much longer. Lynette 05-15-2007, 08:28 PM For a pedi I used to go to a place in Petaluma when I worked down there and I think I paid $24 including tip but it never ever chipped even a month or more later. Speaking of which, I need to go soon because I am awful about wearing flip flops a lot but my feet are not sandal suitable right now :bag Karen, does 101 have those massage chairs? I would up for a group field trip sometime :) karen-clark 05-15-2007, 08:36 PM YES it is the same as the one in Petaluma by the Wherehouse, is that where you went? Same set up - very relaxing! They do your hands while you get the leg massage and toes done. I don't recall having a chipping problem, but with any nail stuff I guess you do have to be more careful. I don't do it often but usually once in the late Spring I have to do SOMETHING to my feet, they are gross. I kinda feel sorry for the lady to be honest. For mother's day Greg got me the whole spa treatment at the place in University of Sports, full body massage, mani, pedi and facial. I haven't been feeling well so I am not up for a whole day ordeal but it was really nice and I am looking forward to using it someday. LOL Lynette 05-15-2007, 09:09 PM Yeah, that is the one I used to go to but I think the last time I went they had sold it? The lady who used to own it was this quirky Asian (Vietnemese?)lady who used to wear leopard print pants and hot pink high heeled sandels with pantyhose and she would bark orders to the girls who did feet. It always reminded me of that Seinfeld episode where they talk trash in their native language :D I used to feel sorry for them too but I figured in that line of work they have seen worse than my feet! :lol karen-clark 05-15-2007, 09:11 PM Yeah like the time I made Greg go there before our wedding!! hehe Cheri 05-16-2007, 03:38 AM I went to Nancy's Nails behind McDonalds in RP. Some places use cheaper nail polish which could be the reason they chipped so soon. OPI is one of the better long lasting polishes. I would have gone back and complained after spending that much. I actually went to a more expensive place and the girl did such a bad job the owner didn't even ask me to pay! Also, if you try some polish of your own at home and it last longer you can always bring your own. I just had a pedi done last week which is the first one in over a year and my polish and feet still look and feel great! I paid the same as yours. justamom 05-16-2007, 04:57 PM she used OPI. Today they look really horrible. The toenails look fine, the fingernails are awful. Some places use cheaper nail polish which could be the reason they chipped so soon. Kellie_MO5 05-16-2007, 05:28 PM I took Jessie outto get her nails done with me at the place inside coddingtown... We were no more than 10 minutes out of the shop, just walking around, when I noticed 2 of her nails were completely un polished (it had come off completely!!!) so I took her back and they fixed it.... 30 min later, after we had left and gone somewhere else, 3 other nails were bare.... moral of the story, DON'T go to the crappy place inside of coddingtown...grrr barb 05-16-2007, 07:37 PM Yeah, I went to the place in Coddingtown and my nails were totally bare within days. StacyK 05-17-2007, 01:37 PM Okay - So any suggestions on places that are great...clean, massage chairs, no chipping paint, relaxing atmosphere, etc? My MIL is comming this weekend and we're going to get her (and me:)) mani/pedis for Mother's Day...Belated I know, but we wanted to do it together:thumb karen-clark 05-17-2007, 10:35 PM I still say Nails on the 101 in Cotati. They have all that and no chipping in my experience. You do have to go to the nail dryer table and stay there forever to help set them. |
