lather rinse AND repeat?
|
View Full Version : Do you LMS 05-25-2007, 02:05 PM lather rinse AND repeat? My3sonsplus1 05-25-2007, 02:14 PM depends on how "funky" I am feeling. If my hair feels extra dirty I will do a rather rinse repeat. If I was just washing to put scented shampoo in my hair I will usually just do once. LMS 05-25-2007, 02:29 PM i NEVER repeat :( But i do condition more than one normally... but that's b/c my new condition doesn't seem to "go very far" so i have to do it twice or my hair doesn't feel soft at all :( My3sonsplus1 05-25-2007, 02:34 PM there is nothing wrong with not repeating silly girl :) I am sure you wash more often than me to begin with :bag LMS 05-25-2007, 02:46 PM probably but i'm WEIRD about my hair. I shampoo my hair about 2x as often as I shower. I shower every 1-1.5 days and I wash my hair 2x a day on average :( For some reason, people seem to think that blonde hair doesn't show oil but it shows it SOO badly. My hair looks AWFUL if it isn't washed super frequently. Plus it's super fine to begin with, so if it's even the slightest bit oily, it goes TOTALLY limp :( colleen&Kail 05-25-2007, 03:32 PM i would like to shower everyday but sometimes it doesnt happen, i like to shower int eh morning then i feel really clean for the day! i dont repeat, but i do condition my hair everytime i shower. Theresa 05-25-2007, 03:52 PM i didn't vote because i do both. it also depends on how dirty i am or if i had used a lot of product. i bought the kirkland conditioner and i hate it. now i have these 2 huge bottles. i use a ton but have not tried the repeat--maybe that will help. i'm never buying that stuff again. jellybeanmichelle 05-25-2007, 04:00 PM My hair is thick and getting longer. I use alot more conditioner than shampoo. I also wash my hair every other day. I don't repeat, but when living in Chico and I decided to go blonde, I think I must of washed my hair like 8 times that day. :tongue Lorah 05-25-2007, 04:17 PM Most of the time I do. :) karen-clark 05-25-2007, 05:25 PM Wow I thought everyone washed their hair every day, I must just have really greasy hair, it's disgusting if I don't. So altho I said "no" I really do - I just repeat it the next day, lather, rinse, repeat (tomorrow), lather, rinse, repeat (tomorrow). Sometimes I wash 2x if I have a hot date or meeting at night and I've worked all day. My hair also can't hold a curl so washing it again gives me the chance to re-do it from the start. But I hate my hair. LMS 05-25-2007, 05:28 PM lol, sounds like we're in the oily hair club together, karen. karen-clark 05-25-2007, 05:42 PM Well here' something to look forward to. When you start getting some grays, it dries it out a little. LOL! So I can sometimes get away with showering AFTER taking the kids to school, even if I have to stop in the store on the way back, without being totally mortified. So I could probably stretch it a little more as I get older. LOL When I go all gray maybe I can do the every other day thing, that would be awesome. LOL! JuliaSannar 05-25-2007, 07:12 PM It must have something to do with thin hair.....I have really oily hair as well. My hair is thin. I have to wash it everyday. It's funny though - when I go backpacking and can't/don't wash my hair for 3-4 days my hair gets past that oily phase and it gets really thick looking/feeling. Probably from the dirt and sweat.....but still. It is a lot easier to manage. Too bad there is that yucky 3-4 days in between........anyhow........now I am rambling. Lynette 05-25-2007, 09:21 PM It must have something to do with thin hair.....I have really oily hair as well. My hair is thin. I have to wash it everyday. Probably from the dirt and sweat.....but still. It is a lot easier to manage. Too bad there is that yucky 3-4 days in between........anyhow........now I am rambling. I think you are on to something, I have read before about people who "wean" off shampoo and it ends up balancing itself out. My hair used to be a lot thicker pre-kids so I could fudge sometimes but now I have to wash it every day. As far as washing every day, I do know a lady who has super thick hair who would wash every 2 days and she never looked greasy to me. In my quest to learn how to take care of curly hair for Alaina, I have been told washing every day is not good because the oil doesn't go down the hairshaft as well as straight hair so curly hair will dry out a lot faster and I have noticed that it curls more, fluffs less if I just get it wet everyday rather than wash it but of course she isn't old enough to be oily yet either :) I think I remember African American hair is different too, like when it is braided it can't be washed and they leave it like that for awhile since it can take hours to braid depending on the style. Tee hee....now I am rambling :D Marisa 05-25-2007, 09:50 PM I *try* to get a shower every day but we all know how that goes... However, I wash my hair every other day or sometimes even on the third day. It tends to dry out because I have "non-curly frizz" so it's kind of like Lynette said... it dries out if I wash it too much. Then it gets even more frizzy and starts to break. Grrr. Does *anyone* like their own hair? I think it's part of being a girl to hate what you got. lol LMS 05-25-2007, 09:52 PM yeah, when it's in braids or dreadlocks you don't wash it for quite a while. Onje of my friends had fake dreads done in her hair while on vacation in high school and didn't wash her hair for like 2 weeks. meeg124 05-25-2007, 11:07 PM I wash my hair at least once day. It's super thick and long and although I could probably go every other day, I can't stand the feeling of even slightly dirty hair. So a lot of times, I take a 2nd shower. If I don't condition my hair every time I wash it, I can forget about brushing it because there are so many tangles. Although I have to admit that if I'm not working, I usually don't brush my hair :bag I would love to have dreads but I could never do the no washing thing :lol My3sonsplus1 05-26-2007, 08:46 AM I was going to mention the frequent washing making the oiliness worse. I very rarely wash my hair (but I used to wash it daily pre-kids). I am more a tub gal and often I will end up with helpers in with me so I hardly get to washing my hair, and I think while it isn't the greatest it isn't the worst looking provided I can actually get it brushed at least once a day ;) and perhaps a haircut more than once every two years! I can't even remember my last cut. But it used to be fairly oily, it just regulated itself better after the daily moisture stripping of shampooing. Kellie_MO5 05-26-2007, 11:04 AM well, I TRY (so hard) to either shower or bathe daily. I only wash my hair every 2-3 days (when shower beats out tub...lol) otherwise it gets way too dry. My hair doesn't get *too* oily in that time, but if my hair goes longer than that 3 days or so then it can get VERY oily... When shampooing I usually rinse, lather and repeat, but not always.. and sometimes I don't rinse before just adding more shampoo... and Conditioner, well, I've always had to use more than the quarter size the bottle says is correct.... I love the Smell of the kikland conditioner (for some reason it totally reminds me of Summer... LOL) but I have to use 4-5 full pumps of the danged stuff to get my hair tangle free. And, I don't brush my hair except for maybe once every other week or so before washing it, otherwise it turns into just frizz KaisaG 05-26-2007, 01:35 PM I don't repeat - my shampoo says to do it "if necessary" and since my hair is pretty dry as it is, I see no need to strip it of even more of its essential oils. I use Bed Head Moisture Maniac- LOVE that stuff!!! colleen&Kail 05-26-2007, 02:05 PM i have some of that but i really love pureology, i have the no frizz oil that i put back in my hair when it is wet too.... justamom 05-26-2007, 03:57 PM I don't repeat. I try to shower every other day when I get out of the house. I don't like to wash my body, or my hair daily as it strips my body/hair of natural oils. I have very fine hair, and it is now color treated. Plus I use a high temp straightening iron, so my hair is really dry. Being dirty really bothers me so I do have to shower every other day, unless I sweat alot or get dirty for some reason. I find that my hair gets really oily a couple days before AF, and last through most of it. So I think not only does thin hair get more oily, but hormones come into play in greasy hair. Karen, I think when your health issues are sorted out, you won't have as much of a problem with oily hair. I seem to get really sweaty just before and during AF. I just feel so dirty then, and have to bath daily if not more. I find that I have to bath more in the hot months too, as I tend to be more sweaty and oily. TaivensMama 05-26-2007, 04:00 PM I think my dead hair would fall right off if I washed it twice!, I can't even wash it daily it needs those naturual oils to make it live! Luckylove 05-26-2007, 04:14 PM I dont repeat. I wash every other day most of the time. Sometimes I will wash it daily if I want it perfect for going out or something. I brush it several times a day though. :) LMS 05-26-2007, 04:16 PM yeah, i have to brush like a gazillion times a day too... it's so fine that it gets windblown super easily. |
