Oh diet anything is horrific for you! Those artificial sweeteners are very unhealthy! Sure they save you calories at that particular sitting (though I have read articles/studies that say you eat more and actually then consume more calories since you have given yourself permission since you aren't getting the calories from your soda) but at what cost?? And the carbonation in soda is bad for your bones so yeah... if I am going to indulge in a soda I am going to all out splurge not drink man made chemicals.

This does not surprise me.

I had to give up soda because a medication I am taking causes carbonation to taste awful to me. Ever since I did so I lost 15 lbs without even trying.

Pepsi is like crack for me... I seriously need a 12 step program to help me quit drinking it.

I gave up soda a long time ago.
Now I only drink Root Beer as a treat at resturants.

I used to drink a 6-pack a day! I was a total nut for pepsi. I even had a "shrine" in my room when I was in high school. "Shrine" meaning I collected pepsi stuff and I had a TON of it - most of it was displayed on my hutch.

LOL - I admit I didn't read the article completely, but did anyone else get a chuckle out of this new PC term: 30 percent increased risk of developing increased waist circumference.

Haa Haa - I'm not getting fat, I'm delveloping and increased waist circumfrence!

Oh, I should add that I broke my soda addiction about 6 years ago - cold turkey. That was rough. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't get out of bed to go to work on the 3rd day.
Now I'll occasionally have a root beer.

I have a soda on special occasions, and every two weeks I will have one at Costco. Actually I usually select that Lipton Rasberry Tea. I won't buy soda for the house and keep it on hand. Hubby always asks me to pick up soda and I tell him not out of my grocery budget. When he does buy it I make him keep it in his office at work.

We don't even buy juices. I am just a big water snob, and we also buy rice milk for chocolate milk and cereal for the kids. About twice per month we buy those sparkling apple mango, apple grape, apple cranberry or Welch's sparkling grape drinks in the wine bottles. My kids like to toast with their little wine glasses. It is a great bonding family thing for us.

I know ramble ramble...
