My 2 crust, Blueberry, White Peach pie won 2nd place in the fair!!!!

No one was given 1st in my catagory, but I don't get that title even though mine was better than the others entered....oh well....

The lady said that a few catagories didn't get a 1st. She thought it may have something to do with the fact that this particular one had a number of varieties entered....it was the "2 crust other: please describe" catagory. So maybe that had something to do with it.

BUT

Travis told me that there was an article in the paper about it recently and how if the judges feel that the criteria for either a 1st, 2nd, or a 3rd place is not met then they dont have to give them.

I am really curious to see if they made any comments on the display card to indicate why I did not get red, but just got blue...heheheh JUST blue....I should say that I was up until 1am this morning trying to get this stupid pie to brown correctly....and finally gave up.....so to get blue is GREAT WITH ME for this time around....that and I only just created this recipe this week after I realized that I had entered the wrong catagory...hehehehehe I meant to do a crumb top and not a 2 crust....oh well..... I have now made 4 of these pies since WEdnesday and LOVE them!!!! So does Travis....so I think it's my new favorite pie.

Oooooo I just had a great idea (I think) - we should have a pie date! Everyone makes (or buys if you're so inclined) a pie/cake/tasty treat and we trade SLICES....I want to try them all or else I would say to trade whole pies! What do you think???? Any takers???

I like that crust design.
Did you have to coat it with something so mold wouldn't grow and bugs wouldn't find it?

nope....you have to present it as you would eat it...so the judges can eat it....I actually watched them judge it. It only stays there until Friday, then I either pick it up, or they toss it. And if it starts to go bad before Friday they toss it.

That crust is so easy to do....I never knew it until this last week when I tried it for the first time.

We had a bake playdate at my house while preggo and it was so much fun. You all know I'm always up for this and I'll bring my cheese cake :)
