Hi gals,
Many of you know that we had our house on the market and that it did not sell. Anyway, we just moved a whole lot of boxes back that were in storage and I found my pizza stone. :) I do not have the directions for it though. I may have used it once or twice but it is not seasoned.
I would greatly appreciate some advice/directions for those of you who are familiar with pizza stones.
TIA!
Hannah is whining AGAIN so I have to stop for now....

I didn't season mine (didn't know you needed to). I just keep it in my oven all the time. It's too heavy to try and store somewhere and haul it in every now and then. I have found that for some reason, when I am baking something it also bakes more evenly when the pan is sitting on the stone.

We just use a crappy pan when we make pizza so I'm not sure. I'll be watching this to see what people say.

I just lightly oil it. And I find preheating it helps too.

We bake the Boboli pizza on ours. Turns out fine.
Didn't know a pizza stone had to be seasoned.
What does seasoning a pizza stone mean aways?

I guess I should be more specific -- How long do you preheat it? How long do you cook pizza dough on it? Do you use it for other things as well?
Thanks!

You can bake cookies on them too.

Mine has been in it's box for about 6 years now.. never used.. I too use the oven rack or a metal pizza tray to cook pizzas on/in. If it warrants too much maintenance.. I tend to not use cookware.. I think mine also said it had to be oiled, or cleaned a certain way...
Sorry.. I'm no help...

I use mine pretty regularly...I never oiled it, just the oil from one pizza took care of that, lol. Anyway, you are not supposed to use soap on it, I remember that vaguely from reading the directions years back. Just water. I don't preheat it, I just plop the pizza on it and stick it in the oven.

cook time is the same as anything else (or at least it is supposed to be, I find when making trader joe's pizza it takes almost twice as long as it says it should, cookies cook in the right amt of time) you would use unless you use it less then like 10 minutes in which case you add 2-3 minutes. You aren;t supposed to have to preheat I don't think but I tend to when using it for pizza because like I said it seems to take forever if I am cooking it from completely cold.
Some times pampered chef has its inserts online, you could try there for "instructions".

I don't do anything special to mine, just cook on it like you would a baking sheet, no oil or anything. You are supposed to just wash with water and I use the little pampered chef scraper thing to get the grunge off but I also put mine in the dishwasher (shhh don't tell the PC gods) and it's lasted over 10 years just fine. We use it for everything, not just pizza!

the only reason you aren't supposed to use soap/wash in the dishwasher is the stone will soak up the soap when heated... have you been eating dish detergent all these years???
