I was noticing that Carters clothes as well as so many other brands are made in China! I am wondering... you know how even toys with no plastic, but that are sprayed with some fire retardants and certain dye lots were contaminated with lead...what if the clothes are too?!
I am probably thinking too much into it, but gosh.... one does wonder when so many things are kids are using are turning up with dangerous levels of lead in them.

I totally hadn't thought of that. I had noticed that Taylors clothes and shoes are made in China. Will bought some cool silicone soft balls with lights in them the other day and they were made in china too. It's the squishy silicone and there's no paint, but who knows what's in it. I'm just paranoid about it all. I haven't bought new toys in months! I can't even remember the last time.

Does anyone know if they will do a lead test for baby "just because"?

I would imagine you could pay for one yourself or even gentle "insistence". If your child has any delays or you have been in a home that might have old paint... I wouldn't think it would be too hard to get one done.
FWIW I think lead would be washed out of clothing, fire retardant probably not since it is made to stay on the clothes wash after wash. I think only jammies have fire retardant in them unless you read otherwise, we don't buy anything that (knowingly) has fire retardant in it and just get those skin tight jammies which are FR free (in theory at least)

we got mav tested for lead ....but that is because we live in an old house....I'm sure if you were worried you could push a doc to do the test.

We get alot of clothes from Carters.
The other day we bought her 2 pj's and 2 tops.
Each one is made in 4 different countries.
Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, and China.
So, not everything is made in China.
