Hi ladies,

I know *some* of this has been discussed before but it has been several months.

I'm wondering if any of you have had positive experiences at Regis or Toni&Guy. If so, who did you see? Did they cut your hair or ?? I'm leaning towards going with one of these as they're more flexible with their hours although I had a gal butcher my bangs at Regis a month ago..

TIA!

The last 2 times I've had my haircut has been at Regis in Coddingtown by the same gal...she unfortunately has moved to a more foo-foo salon, but she gave me her card. Overall I really like Regis! I don't have any experience with Toni & Guy, IDK...it seems like they are trying to be trendy L.A....those places sort of intimidate me, plus everyone who works there looks really young and full of angst!

But don't take my advice, I was a Supercuts customer for years.:cool

Erin,

Have you had any experience with the Regis at the Santa Rosa Plaza? I did not know that there was a Regis in Coddingtown.

Thanks!

Toni & Guy isn't your typical "mall salon." They are trained extensivley and look at cutting hair from a different perspective- they veiw it as an art form.

I've gotton my hair cut there the last four times and have NEVER had better hair cuts. It is pricey, but I'm addicted! And the fact is, when I walk out with a bounce in my step, I don't care how much it costs :)

My last hair cut, I got stopped several times and complimented on how great it was. I would reccomend Toni & Guy %100 :thumb

I Go to Josh - he's on of the owners - but it seems like everyone there is really good!

Josh, he's wife, and several of his brothers work there. It's a falimy business :)

They are very trendy, and a lot of fun! They started out in europe and then the East coast (I believe) They are just now opening shops in California. They are all pretty young, but all VERY nice and they'll do whatever you want!

I've never been to Toni and Guy, but I used to be a Regis customer. I've had my hair done in Coddingtown, Santa Rosa Plaza, and Northgate (in San Rafael) and have never had a bad haircut. I never stuck to the same stylist until recently. The reason I no longer get my hair done there is because I usually wake up one day and decide "I'm going to get my haircut today" and walk over to the barber shop on base. I've been seeing the gal there for the past 18 months or so and have really liked what she does to my hair. In fact, I'm walking down there in a little over 1 1/2 hours to get a new 'do. :)

I would pick Toni & Guy but simply b/c I was trained at a Toni & Guy school for massage therapy back east so I knew LOTS of people that went through the training and it was VERY extensive. Like Stacey said, it's not like your normal hairstylist... they are the types that can look at you and say "this will look good, this wont. This will work for your hair, this won't" rather than just taking a picture you give them and duplicating it when it's a good choice for you or not.

A quick update : I served as a hair model at Toni&Guy tonight for a highlight/tint. It turned out great!

The pricing seems to vary according to how long the stylist has been working and their "level". The ones that are most recommended are $70 and up for a cut. Yowsers! I'd like to try them out but can't afford that...

Turns out the gal who did my hair tonight is looking for a highlight/lowlight hair model next week. I paid $18 for supplies so I'm sure you'd do the same. She asked that if you respond to include your telephone number.

Here's the CL post: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bts/441394616.html

If you get it done, please let me know so we can share stories!

Ooooh! Thanks for sharing:) I'm going to e-mail her right now. It's been about a year and a half since I've had highlights (I dye my hair black). I bet she'll get lots of responses.

Erin (or anyone else who emails Shanna), if you tell her that I told you about it, that might help you!

LMK if you have the service done.

Sorry for late response, but by pricey - i mean I pay $72 before tip...but like I said, it's been the best haircut I've ever gotten, everytime I go. Which isn't as much as I'd like to :)

I went in on Thursday and asked about the price, they start at $52.00. That's a bit too rich for my blood. I went to my gal on the Coast Guard base and paid $14.00 for a cut that I *LOVE*. :)

Beth, I just got back from Tony & Guy..I love the highlights..very subtle red, Shanna was really nice, although her instructor who grades her was a tad b@#chy. It took longer than I has anticipated (2.5 hours) my 75 y.o. dad was babysitting, he and baby both survived. I was worried and called him like 4 times. It always feels good to have my hair played with...the only drawback to the place is the lighting in there is so damn bright....BUT

Nothing like getting an $82 service for $18!:thumb
