View Full Version : brown sweat shirt/sweats My3sonsplus1 10-24-2007, 04:07 PM Has anyone seen kids sized brown sweat shirt/pants whilst out and about? Nothing like last minute/semi last minute costume ideas... for a momma with little to no craft ability meeg124 10-24-2007, 04:55 PM Lisa - I just bought new sweats for Caden and I didn't see brown but Walmart does have a forest green color, if that helps you at all. My3sonsplus1 10-24-2007, 05:02 PM It is for a teddy bear "costume" idea I had so unless he was a very ill little bear... ;) Thanks for letting me know though! meeg124 10-24-2007, 05:11 PM :lol I was thinking it was something nature related... so yeah green would not be a good choice for a bear! Georgias_mama 10-24-2007, 09:07 PM what about getting black and hand sewing or machine sewing brown felt patches on them? you could also get white and find some fabric dye, and then dye them brown Luckylove 10-24-2007, 09:47 PM I just bought some Hanes sweats and sweatshirt for Ava in the toddler section at Target. Not sure about brown though. THere wasn't brown in the girls section. They were about $4.99 each so its worth a visit. Georgias_mama 10-24-2007, 09:52 PM You also might try the hunting and sporting good section of like Walmart. they might have brown in kids sizes. Kellie_MO5 10-24-2007, 11:49 PM Or, find white and be a polar bear.. or a dalmation (draw or tack on spots)... or wear a white robe and braided belt w/ sandals and be Joseph ;) or add a slingshot with a small bag of stones and be David :) Hmmm... You have a football helmet, you could draw a # on a T and be a football player (and could even make some shoulder pads from cardboard)... Green sweats with cardboard triangles on the back and a green tail (either cardboard attatched around the waist by string, or a stuffed green knee sock) could turn a boy into a great Dino... oooh, have Kevin dress in all green, and Elias wear a nametag that just says Jack.... (Jack and the Beanstock...? LOL) You could go back to the white sheet go for a Ceasar/Roman eperor type w/ toga (or college frat boy...hehe) ... ummmm... all black clothing w/ white face paint (mime)... ummmm.... I'm running low... plus, I'm not sure which boy you're looking for...lol... We have a spiderman costume you could borrow(well, most of it.. there's no mask, but we just painted E's face last year) that has a few fixable flaws if it's for one of your smaller boys (it fits Eli fine, if a tad snug, if that helps with sizing...) Lemme know if it's something you may be able to use, and I can wash and repair the small tears... (though we would need it back afterwards.. it's one of E's favorite things to wear around the house... LOL) My3sonsplus1 10-25-2007, 08:20 AM Well originally I was going for a specifica bear, Cubbie Bear because we have the vest :giggle (was inspired by the fact they made face masks last week in class. Was going to trace pattern and make a new one out of felt) http://store.awana.org/AwanaVirtualCategory.aspx?itemId=019001874&feature=yes At this point all the kids need outfits except E I think. We have costumes from Disney but they are like meant for sub-artic temps and the kids sweat in them standing still. So we need lightweight. There is no way they can play in the ones we have. They don't like face masks... except B and A both wore their cubbies masks for a bit so I thought that might be cute... I think J would love to be David, he uses the play slingshot all the time (granted it is neon green and pink) just wasn't sure how to come up with the rest of the costume... he wears a crown too so the life of David in one costume... coincedentally Ben wants to be spiderman (for some reason) but in the store he refused to wear the mask. So we could try borrowing yours Kellie if we can and see about painting his face. Fall Fest Fest has a mask/gore free policy anyhow. I figure we will exhaust the baseball/football soccer player thing is we get any more down to the wire. justamom 10-25-2007, 09:32 AM I would think that dying white sweats would be a good idea or buying inexpensive brown fabric and sewing??? My3sonsplus1 10-25-2007, 10:02 AM Well I have zero sewing ability but I may do the dye job if we don't come up with something else. The perfectionist in me is dying at trying to get a good color match... Georgias_mama 10-25-2007, 10:03 AM sewing would be good to. you could also knit a bear hat with the ears. how cute would that be!?! My3sonsplus1 10-25-2007, 10:10 AM Thanks for the chuckle Kelly. I can't hand sew let alone machine sew or knit a straight line, let alone in a shape. I can make friendship bracelets but that is about where my abilities end. :D I think if I had craft abilities I'd be able to envision "something" to make but right now I am going through our clothes going hmmmmmm what can I do with a red/green/white/black shirt that requires no sewing and not coming up with much. Georgias_mama 10-25-2007, 10:15 AM hahaha well at least it made you chuckle! right? There is a book called "rip it" its about how to alter and recreate the "T" shirt! Its pretty darn rad. I was thinking about doing a "T Party" and have people bring in 5 or so shirts and have everyone mix and match and recreate a new shirt wardrobe. Kellie_MO5 10-25-2007, 10:23 AM LOL, Kelly, I think I have that book ;) |
