Can you believe this??? Will these two every stop making the news??

May 4 - KGO - The Food and Drug Administration says at certain diagnostic levels, ultrasounds can affect human tissue. However, "TomKat" bought one anyway, and state lawmakers don't want anyone else to.

Hollywood super-couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes inspired the bill, banning the sale of ultrasound machines to anyone but a licensed medical professional. Cruise bought one when Holmes was pregnant with their daughter, Suri, who was born last month.

Assemblyman Ted Lieu wrote the proposal because he fears a fetus could experience brain damage with too many ultrasounds.

Assm. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance: "An ultrasound machine was never intended as a toy for the rich and famous."

i could see how it may be POSSIBLE that a lot of ultrasounds may be bad for a baby... but i had one monthly thru my pregnancy just b/c my insurance covered it, and my doctor was all about doing them. LOL. He was so funny, i never even questioned anything with him b/c I loved him so much. I could see some dumb*** buy one though and look at the kid all day. LOL. Plus, I'd hate to see some stupid couple think "well, if i can check my baby, i don't need to go for my drs appts"... but yeah, can't we be passing more important laws?

Those 3D ones in the mall are kind of scary, they are supposed to be higher powered and the techs aren't trained much and the sessions can be like 30 minutes long.

I had gestational diabetes with Alaina so I had to do stress tests and ultra sounds to measure the amniotic fluid a lot, the last 2 weeks it was every other day so I am hoping she didn't have any ill effects as I am not 100% sure they are harmless.

I have no doubt that tere could possibly be side effects from too many... but the only reason a law is trying to be passed right now is b/c of the TomKat thing... not b/c there's a true concern for the public. If that were the case the first time one showed up on EBay we would have heard about and some lawyer with nothing better to do would have tried to apss a law then. So just b/c some celebrity is a moron and all over the news we need a law against privately owned US machines? The whole thing is just ridiculous... like Tom himself! :)

yeah, name 4 people who have the money to buy one, who actually would? LOL. Rich people like Donald Trump have brains and have no need to do crap like that. That's what Doctors/Midwives are for.
