A Medford couple is in jail and their baby boy is in the hospital after a rat, which they found near a creek and brought home, broke out of a cage and bit the baby more than 100 times, authorities said.

I have the chills after reading just the little description... I don't think I can read the whole article. But What the hell were these people thinking bringing home a rat "off the streets"? Have they no common sense at all????

omg, you HAVE to raed it. she's 19, the dad is 20 and this is their SECOND kid. I can't imagine having 2 kids at 19. LOL. I'm going nuts with 1 at 21.

okay... it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Who in their right nimd would assume that a rat in the street was an abandoned pet rat???? There's no logic in that!

Did anyone catch when they woke up the next morning the found that there baby had been bitten and took him to the emergency room? What baby wouldn't be screaming at the top of his lungs, what grown up for that matter. What were the parents doing when the baby was being bitten 100 to 200 times? And they can't use well we let the baby cry it out at night a baby's cry in distress is a lot different than just being fussy! That just makes me so mad.

Poor little guy, I just get so sad thinking about the pain that little baby was going through and his parents who are suppose to protect him are not there for him.

Yeah, I had the same thought Michelle! It said they all slept in the same room, they must have been under the influence or not even there like they claim which is probably why they took the other kid. Morons should not be allowed to breed!

Know doubt! I shared this story with my mom and she had the same response... where were the parents when the kid was being bitten? I know I wake up at the smallest peep from Jazper no matter what so that I can be alert to the cry... whether it's his hungry cry, his fussy cry. No parent I know could sleep through their kid being bitten once let alone 100 -200 times by a rat!
