OH MY GOSH, It's been so hectic here with the move and the MIL and my two trips and b being sick twice that it completely slipped my mind. Let me figure a few things out and I'll post on it later today.

How do yall feel about Finley? That would be free. Or other suggestions of free places?

Finley might be pretty busy... it seems every w/e I have seen at least one bounce house going on and the place is packed, so I am not sure there would be anywhere particular to meet. Though I guess you coudl always say to met at the playground part at xyz time and whoever shows up around that time can stake out a place that is still somewhat open to lay out blankets and such and then have everyone who is attending either wear some "code" outfit or put up some sort of SCM banner/sign/way to distinguish the "group" for the enevitable stragglers :). It might be better to find a place more "off the beated path"/less "known", like a (small-medium) neighborhood park to meet at. We have my kids parties at Live Oak park off West Third/Darla Drive and I am sure there are other parks that are nice too.

finley has a bounce house lately too.. that's why i'm a little leary of there. :( They are always P-A-C-K-E-D on weekends too :( but I have a sneaking suspicion that most places will be

eta: If anyone knows of a smaller park, like Lisa suggested, that has a LOT of stuff for the kids to do (more than just a playground, preferrably) that would be GREAT. Less chance of massive amounts of people, therefore safer in general.

lisa: Where, exactly, is Live Oak Park? I'll go check it out today that way we can finalize some plans

What are you invisioning, if I thought backwards I might be able to come up with a place that meets your "ideal requirements".

Literally: Grass... play equipment.... space... sun...
I jsut want more than a swingset if we are going to have a lot of kids there, so ANYTHING with more than a small playground should be suggested if you know of a place

I've never been to Finley park but this just came to me. For my business I have a 10 x 10 ez-up tent with sides. I could always bring that and I have tables that we could put the food on. If there is room for that we could do that.

Well if nothing else Live Oak has that. A big open field, lots of sun (Michelle's tent could give us shade if they day was really sunny) swings (2 a toddler and regular one, or amybe two toddler ones..) as well as a slide structure for big kids and a toddlerish one for littler ones. So in a pinch that would qualify if nothing else rings a bell to anyone ;) It is close to your house so you could check it out next time you are out and about, Take West third (the fulton side is closer) to darla and you can't miss the park.

Michelle: the tent would be AWESOME. That way the people with smaller babies can have shade fror their less mobile children.

lisa: I think I'm leaning more towards those smaller parks than the bigger ones like finley now. Plus if they are rarely frequented, we could try for the bbq anyways ;) I *think* ours can be broken down to put in our suv

This sounds like fun. Another suggestion for a park is the Super playground in Sebastopol. It is at Brookhaven school. They just redid the picnic area and there is really big playground.

There is also a park by my house off petaluma Hill Rd that has grass, two playgrounds (one for the big kids and one for the small ones that is fenced in) basket ball court and benches. I can't think of the name at the moment but i can look it up if you like.

James and I could bring our bbq and yours Jackie.... we have a large truck with no camper (F350 Super Duty Duallie). So that can help with the BBQ situation. Loving the 10'x10' tent... that'll be awesome. I could also probably borrow some tables and chairs from my parents. There is a small park down the street from my parents with two play areas in sand (one for toddlers and one for bigger kids) and a hlaf-court basketball court and large grassy area. Usually not too busy on wknds as it's in a residential area who's kids have all grown up. I think there's a grill on sight as well as a "gazebo" area. I can drive by there and see what the signs say about usage. It's on the corner of Range and Russell here in SR... there are no bathrooms though.... but like I said my parents and my brother both live down the street so I could see if we could use there houses for potty breaks!

Megan: My only concern with Sebastopol is that it isn't quite as central as Santa Rosa or Rohnert Park would be :(

The park by my house is called Colgan Creek Park which is just north of Kawana Springs Road and Petaluma Hill Rd.

Anna: What is the name of the park you are talking about?

There is also the South West Community Park off of Hern Ave in Santa Rosa.

I wish I could come but :( I am already commited to attending a WaccoBB.net community networking picnic that afternoon, and my Son's 4H Family Night Party that evening.

Memorial day weekend is the weekend prior, I wonder if the park would be busy or slower following Memorial Day Weekend.

I am involve with several homeschoolers playgroups and we meet at Howarth Park. The kids, however, tend to play with the items we bring as opposed to the play structures. Items like kick balls, frisbees, kites. I have not been online with the group much lately, so I am not really sure of all of the ages of our kids. Just wanted to offer suggestions.

Have you guys narrowed down a time? Perhaps I could stop by, I do not want to commit, but like the idea of possibilities! ;) :p

Becky: I'm sure the park has a "name" I just don't jknow what it is! :) But I will check it out today and get the name and see if there's any rules about bbqs posted and let y'all know this afternoon!

Okay... it's Bicentennial Park. Nothing posted about BBQs... just no glass containers and no alcoholic beverages. Says to contact the city for more info if necessary. I took pics of the park... here's a link to view them. My parents may no be in town that wlnd but said we could use there house for "potty breaks".

How does 11:30am sound for everyone?

eta: Anne, you are a whiz with directions since you're from here.. Can you write up a set of directions for people who don't live in SR, or who haven't been to that part of SR?

Jackie: 1130 sounds good. Someone or a few of us (with the bbqs) should try to get there a little earlier just in case! And no prob I can post directions. Should I do it on this thread or email it to you so you can email it to everyone?? Which would be easier? PM or IM me and let me know. ;)

Do you want me to still bring the tent, just in case? Or is there a lot of shaded areas.

Are there any baby swings at this park?

I vote that you still bring the tent. I don't know about shade and I figure it can't hurt can it? If there is shade it might be covered by trees and if nothing else maybe we can use that as the food tent so we don't get leaves and junk falling into food? And if it is not really treey we will probably need it for shade.

I think there are gazebos at this park, so let me look before we go making any plans on bringing lots of large unnecessary equipment. I know it's going to be a bit of a hassle to load that up, Michelle. I really appreciate the offer and I don't want to make you bring it if there's no need for it.

daisydoc

Yes there are baby swings. There's a play area for older kids and a fenced play area for younger kids. There's also the basketball court. There is a gazebo by the benches and Horse-shoe pits but other than that not much shaded area... so as a group we may still want the tent.

Jackie : I'll get the dierctions together sometime tomorrow and PM them to you so you can post them.
