A woman who, is satisified in her childless life with her husband, travels with a friend to China to adopt a baby girl and ends up falling in love with the child as the meant to be mother really isn't the one that is meant to be.

I just happened to pick up this book while at a friends house recently and just couldn't put it down!

Here are the first few pages online that you can preview:

Wow, Lorah.. that does sound interesting...

I had a friend married to a much older man and she contstantly said that they were not going to have kids, and that she wasn't cut out to be a mom.. Deep down I (and several others) felt that she did yearn for a child based on how she interacted with all of our babies/kids. She and her husband moved out of state to Oregon.. After being there about 5 months she missed family and friends. After almost 20 years of marriage she left him as she realized that she wanted to have her own child/children and with her husband traveling away for months at a clip.. she would never have the opportunity.. So they parted ways and she is now involved with a man much closer in age, with similar desires..

I may have to recommend this book to her..
