View Full Version : SCM Biggest Loser Competiton?
Anyone want to participate?
You can do whatever program you want to lose weight, it'll last like 6 or 8 weeks, and everyone will put in a few bucks (probably like $3-4 per person) and then the winner at the end gets the pot.
We do these on my other board and a TON of people participate and they get a good amt of money at the end.
You send your weights every week on a particular day, and we'll post the stats and the weeks biggest loser.
Post here if you want in and we'll see how many people are actually interested.

I love this idea. Would the winner be the person who has lost the most lbs or the total percentage of weight loss? I'm in either way, just curious.
percentage. I think that's definitely more fair.

I think it's a great idea. It may just be the motivation I need to lose this weight - something that definitely needs to be done before we start ttc. Since we have to post our weight, it *will* be a private thread, right :bag
the thread will be private, BUT you won't have to post your weights. You'll email them in on the day we choose as weighin day, and then your % will be posted (not your weight).

Hey, stop rubbing it in :tongue !
I'm not trying to. :) Honest.
I did work my ass off (litereally) for 12.5 months to get rid of 82 pounds. Its not like it fell off ya know. I was walking 20+ miles a week and only eating healthy foods.

:) I know, just kidding! I wish I could work out like that too. I'd like to get out and walk, but with work I find it really hard to feel good about it. Like I really need to be in the office waiting for the phone to ring. Will already thinks sometimes that I don't take this job as seriously as I've taken other jobs (yeah, the responsibility is *a little* greater now with baby) so I don't want to give him any ammo. :rant Sorry

I think it's a cool idea.
Motivation to get my butt back in gear after not working out for a month.

So would it be emailing the starting weight to you, the loss, and then you are calculating and posting the percentage? And they do this weekly on your other board? Most home scales aren't too precise so if someone lost 3/4 of a pound it might be hard to see on the little dial thingy.
yeah, that's how it'd work lynette.
Then every 2 weeks you send in a photo of your scale (with you standing on it, but just a closeup of the scale itself) to show the weight. That way we keep everyone honest :lol)

Alright... I only want to lose about 7 or 8%... which makes me think I'm at a disadvantage. But... I can afford to lose a few bucks, as I know that the whole "reporting to" part will help motivate me :tongue
okay, since we have a few ppl interested, we'll say it'll be $4 per person (that way if we can get 10 people in, that's $40!). You can paypal it to sonomacountymom@gmail.com and once everyone gets signed up, I'll just bump in the extra $$ to round it off to a nice even number.
I'll post all the details (dates, etc) tomorrow, so check back!
ETA: be sure to put BIGGEST LOSER in the paypal subject line for me, pleeease :)

Great idea!! I wish I could do it but I'm one of those weird ones that actually gains weight when I'm getting in shape...maybe I could play but go the opposite way...hee
If any ladies are interested, I'm taking a Bootcamp class in Sebastopol starting Feb 18th. It's 4 weeks long and would work great w/ this because she monitors your improvement along the way. It's a 1 hr class, 3, 4 or 5 days a week (you pick) and is led by a PT. Her website is www.sebastopolbootcamp.com and you'll have to go to it to find out what time the class is...I won't be the bearer of that news:eek
Love to have some of you join me...I'll need to motivation!!

Sounds like a good idea. I have about 80 lbs that I want to lose..well more then that, but I want to see what I will look like at a certain weight....WW says that I should weight 147, but I'd look ridiculous at that weight since I'm big boned and have naturally wide hips....
I just have to get over the shame of actually emailing my weight to someone....lol
