Honestly, I just text messaged DH and told him to make the box of Hamburger Helper that I left on the stove (we use turkey, though:)). Gotta love the Helper!:)

Wild salmon, rice, and green beans. If I get done with the gazillion loads of laundry, I may bake a (box) cake.

Ap is: Sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese puffs with a light pesto
Main is: Lobster tails and steak with spring squash and other vegs
To finish: Dark chocolate mouse with berries in a white chocolate cone
Might add a salad but I don't think Logan can sit through a 4-5 course dinner just yet..
Table is already set and the everything is ready to go on the heat at 6:30

I Love to cook. The first time I had my now DH over for dinner I went so far as to tie the asparagus up with chives. *giggles* Some times I go a weeeee bit over board
I was torn between making my DH fav dinner or the first one I cooked for him... what do you think is more romantic?

Last night's dinner didn't start off well. My oven was on the blink so the dinner *should have been* at 7:15 (just after Mav went to bed), but it ended up being at 8:30 :( Oh well....it was still REALLY GOOD!
1st course: spinach and mixed greens salad with dried cranberries and raspberry vinegarette
Main course: roasted leg of lamb marinated overnight in red wine, fresh rosemarry from the garden, a head of fresh garlic from the garden, and place pepper. Also with red potatoes roasted in olive oil, garlic, and rosemarry and drizzled with cooked down red wine sauce.
Dessert: homemade strawberry glaze served warm over vanilla ice cream and warm out of the oven mini heart shaped yellow cakes.
We also had a glass of a nice red wine, can't remember what it was...a nice blend though...

Well, we ended up have Baja Fresh for dinner at my Mom's. Dan got home alittle late, and I forgot to defrost the meat. Opps! Oh well!
Theresa - That's what my parents had for dinner, before we got there. It was a Thursday, and as a kid my Mom always made eggs on Thursday. :)

"Snozzberry?? Who ever heard of a snozzberry?!" :D
Lynette...you have to remember...I'm weird :D
most things have 'other' names...
for instance:
Olives = Olivia Newton Johns...Olivias for short...the whole family calls them Olivias...from Grandma right on down to Taiven...
Butter = Butros Butros Galli or Butros for short...again...in my family we just *know* that means butter :D
Rolls = (like a dinner roll) Raul
and the list goes on.....:giggle

Yep...that's where we got it from :giggle
That's funny, my family does that too, but not just with food, but with movie quotes. My mom told me yesterday she was having Bernaise sauce on their fillets for dinner and I promptly said 'don't get saucy with me Bernaise' (from history of the world). She told me that is the third time she heard that yesterday, as my dad and brother said the same thing.

we do that too! WOW...I'm so glad we're not the only 'special' family!
When someone says things like surely they'll help...or what ever....it is always promptly followed with 'don't call me shirley'
or we'll just bust out random movie quotes...a fave is "A gun rack.....you got me A gun rack...I don't even own A gun let alone several guns...that would neccesitate A gun rack"
Anyone know what movie that is from? :D
yeah...it never makes sense....really....but we're ever so special!
My Uncle got married a few months ago....in their ceremony they just had random movie quotes that made up the vows...it was really a hoot!

I was totally planning on making Filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus - Yum...Then Ian calls all excited because he wants to cook dinner, I'm sorry, it sounds so nice, but it never goes well - so I say ok and I do appreciate the effort. So he cooks me baked trout with brown rice, but the thing is he was so tired from work that he was so grumpy that he pissed and moaned the whole time and really made me upset. We didn't even eat till 9:00 and I was starving (and fantasizing about filet mignon) - Oh well...

My DH is the same. If he cooks he gets overly excited about my spices and thats just never good. Once he added "something" to eggs and we had Green eggs.
That and Dinner is always 1-3 hours late.... or 2 of the 3 dishes he made are ice cold and the 3rd is under cooked or burned.
I suppose one cook in the house is better then too many cooks in the kitchen.
