I just got this in one of my email newsletters so I thought I would pass it along.

Weather permitting on Wednesday February 20, 2008 in the U.S., (Thursday, February 21 in the rest of the world) a total eclipse of the Moon will be visible in most of North America, all of South America as well as Western Europe and portions of North Africa. This is an exciting event for astronomers and it can provide great picture opportunities to photographers as well.

I am hoping the weather cooperates .......Trianna is really excited to see the "red moon".
Liz....the moon will rise eclipsed, already. Look for it as soon as it gets dark.

We can't see through these clouds up here. I'm so bummed! With the sky clearing I was excited to see it. I still have hope, but it's not looking good. I hope you guys in town have a better view. :fingerscrossed

Well, we just came back inside, the 4 of us (me, dh, Mav, and Barley :giggle) all got to see it. The clouds broke just enough to get a glimps of it. Pretty cool!

Mav says "muh" for moon, and well for Mav, and for the sound a cow makes, and mommy, hehehe but he pointed at it a number of times all excited. We also sang twinkle twinkle little star and looked at the stars too....he loves the night time sky. It's a treat because he rarely sees it...like maybe once a month or so.

Look to your east. Salina just went outside to get something out of the car and we could see it perfectly from our front yard :duh

Dangit it must have been perfectly eclipsed when I went out before so I didn't see it. Now it is brighter than bright! I always miss this stuff. Always miss shooting stars too.

We saw it. I took some pics from Fresh Choice in RP, Target in RP, and when we got back home. I think I'm beginning to like my camera, even though sometimes it can be a butt at times.

Nice pic Jackie! I tried to get a pic, but I couldn't get one to turn out. I really need to learn how to use my new camera - I'm sure I could have gotten one if I only knew how to use it :(

Ok, I like your picture Jackie.
Now, can you tell me what I did wrong with mine?
I put it on the sports feature, because the last time I put it on Auto, it came out all blurry and did not look like a moon. More like an 8. :)
I also zoomed in right on the moon.
