I don't like the fact that you can't search to see who is in your area.
I don't find the site to be very user friendly.

What's your opinion?

i found out about this several months ago and I don't care for how its organized but i like the idea. I have both my businesses listed there along with a couple mom groups that I am on. I am disappointed how they organize their businesses because its not easy to search for biz locally but I do like how you can get/give testimonials for a biz or organization.

I get emails from them and they are pretty cool. Rachel sent me the first link to that site. I check stuff out on there ever so often. I don't have any feelings really either way on it.

I was invited to join that a few months back...I don't find it very user friendly either....I have my biz listed...at several reviews of my biz...but I can never understand fully how to search for my biz to check for new reviews and such...its overall just not a very friendly site as far as ease of use.

I'm on a couple other mama sites that are much more user friendly!

What I do like about Mamasource is that they support Mama Owned businesses. I like that you can list your biz, and have your clients review your biz. All for FREE. I don't have any issues finding my biz comments as their is a link in my profile.

I don't like how all you can post there are subjects pertaining to help that you need. There is no chit chat or anything other than help me. On the other hand I do like that I can go there and help! Just makes me feel good! It is also hard to find your biz in the biz listings once you have lost your spot on the first couple of pages. But if you get another client to review your biz, you pop back up in the listings again.

I must say that Mamasource does not rank super high on my priority list as in comparison it is a bit harder to navigate than most other forums I am on. But it is ok.

I have to say, SCM is a 1,000 times better!
I belong to another site too, and I tried to get them to use what SCM uses, but they decided to use something else.
If it's not a good site, I'm not going to visit often.

Thanks for your imput. Glad I'm not the only one.

I agree Michelle. The vbulletin set up allows for members to get more personal I think, plus the search feature is very user friendly! :thumb

Hay, could we put something on there about SCM?
Part of me wants to send PM's to the Mom's and invite them to check out SCM. Only Sonoma county town's though.
but, I don't want to violate any rules or something like that. kwim?

Yes you can add anything you want there as a "business" and I've added my DSWA meetings and the RPCMC events there as a "business" just so people would see them! :) I agree about the site, it isn't very user friendly when you are used to the kind of setup we have here. Basically the ONLY things you can see or comment on are LOCAL people and businesses. I wish there was a listing of metro areas you could click on to move around, like on Craigslist, and that there were non-help folders and a search function! So yeah, less than impressed!

The best way is for Jackie to list SCM on there and all of you review it! Then you are not stepping on toes/spamming.

OK I just thougt of something - Jackie would have to have her account set up for THIS zip code for it to show up in Sonoma County. Maybe Sarah or someone else could do it instead? Otherwise Jackie would be stuck only being a member in this area and not her own! I know when I changed zips once to find one of my consultants, it changed the location of all my businesses to that zip. It's funny that way!

Sounds like a good plan Karen!

You can also review a biz and if they are not there input their info. For example if one of the members listed SCM so that they could review it, it would list, based on that members input. If a biz listing is not attached to a registered account it will not have the Mama Owned button next to it.
