View Full Version : Don't watch Oprah today...
Unless you want to be sickened and disgusted by the sight of actual puppy mills. I just saw a preview and wanted to cry and throw up at the same time. I don't think I have the stomach to watch it, but just from the preview I will never get a dog from a shady place :(

They aren't as rampant here as they are in other parts of the country because of our bleeding heart liberal ideals, but remember millers sell to pet stores, online via their own websites or puppy sites, and they know how to clean up a puppy to take a cute picture and they know how to say the right things so you think they are well loved members of the family. Then Sometimes they even do these huge auctions back east where millers dump their used up breeding dogs or they just shoot them. It is just so disgusting :(
:( I know, there is that place First Class Kennels or something like that and I always assumed they got their dogs from puppy mills. I knew mills were bad, but not as sickening as the images I saw just in the preview today. How can someone do that to other living creatures???

Yeah, I have called them before to see what kind of operation they run and one of the most telling things is that they don't sell big dogs like Danes or Mastiffs because they are not popular dogs with millers since you can't cram a million of them in little cages. Although they also could be getting their puppies from corporate dog "factories" like these: http://www.thehuntecorporation.com/details.aspx

I stopped watching daytime TV. When the kids sleep and I am home I either come on here or watch night stuff from my DVR. Thatnks for the warning though since sometimes I like to try to catch Oprah!!:)

SO glad I didn't give in and get a puppy from that First Class Kennels place. They had boxer pups and I even called about them but I could tell from the questions I asked that they were from a farm. I could also tell that the manager was becoming increasingly annoyed with my knowledge of such things...

:yeah Thankfully didn't happen to see it. Sometimes those programs drag you in even though you don't want to watch. Sometimes I'll watch Animal 9-1-1 or whatever that show is called on Animal Planet and it will make me sooo sad to see that people can be so cruel to poor helpless little animals!!

I watched it.
For one thing, I didn't know about puppy mills.
This was the first I heard about it.
So, I watched it to be educated.
The guy that goes around to the puppy mills to collect the puppies that are no longer needed is awsome for doing that. He said the puppy mills will even call him to come pick them up or else they will be shot in an hour or so.
On that one trip with the Oprah show, they rescued, I believe 40 dogs.
