does anyone know where I might find tomato cages this time of year? The foliage on my tomatoes is out of control!

Also I need to find a pool. I am specifically looking for this one: http://www.qualityinflatables.com/56493.html
with these two as runners up:
http://www.qualityinflatables.com/56495.html (apparently Walmart sold this one at least earlier this year)
http://www.qualityinflatables.com/58480.html (I think this was also sighted there)

but at this point if anyone has seen one that resembles these ones I will go check it out. Kmart has absoultely no pools left that I could see and Target (SR) did not seem to have what I was looking for, but then again when I was looking I thought I had some room to be a bit choosey so maybe there was something workable there but I don't think there was. So... if you are out and about shopping and see a store selling a pool that resembles one listed above I would be eternally grateful if you let me know. I am tired of driving around in search of a pool!

I have no idea about tomato cages. I would probably try one of the smaller nurseries like Deja Vu out on Guerneville Rd (passed willow side).

I haven't looked for pools but I do I a few errands to run this week. I'll keep my eyes open! :)

Are the garden places out of cages? It is hard to put them on when the plants are already big but I know some people just use string/twine and well placed pieces of wood for support too. We just re-used the ones from last year.

Don't know about pools either, I would think you would get one for a deal if you found one! We just have the hard plastic one that we bought for the dogs last year that they didn't end up liking so Alaina inherited it this year :)

Bad prego! Don't drive around in this heat!!

We have a square foot garden so I am having a hard time figuring out how I could contain them sicne they have other stuff growing right.next.to.them. I haven't looked very hard for the cages. DH is the driver of the family and the last thing he feels like doign after a long day of work is going on a goosechase for a tomato cage but one of the plants is falling all over the corn it is just a big ol' mess! I have pruned the plants so they are pretty leggy and not hugely "full" I think I could pretty easily get some sort of containment over them.

As far the pools I NEED a blow up one, it is for my impending birth, with the added bonus of possibly being able to reuse for the kids once I am done using it. It needs to be like 21 inches deep or more, spacious enough to not feel like a canned sardine while in the throughs of active labor yk :lol . Something more spacious than my tiny bathtub (PLEASE!!!) I cannot labor at home in this weather w/o a pool! It is hard enough existign in this heat, "running a marathon" in it, I think not. I was sweating in the A/Ced hospital and in the middle of a fall night during my labors, if it is already 90 degrees I will end up in a flipping puddle!

Like I said no driving around for me, would be better if I were though. We are housebound in this weather w/o A/C.

well we're not house-bound.... b/c I could leave and drive around... but we are w/o A/C!!! Wwe are hoping to get A/C put in soon but are trying to figure out how to have the $$$$ to do it! Looking like it won't happen :( But me and the kids would love to have it. The heat is making us all cranky!!!

I know you have no$$$ like the rest of us but my Home Birth Midwife that attended Sevannah's birth has a birthing tub that she rents. PM me if you're interested in her contact info. I think she rents it for like $175.

Hmmm....I hope you can find some cages, I know they are cheap like $3 when we got ours at Yardbirds last year.

Have you used an inflatible pool at home for birthing before? Do you use it indoors? If so, do the sides sink? I would be afraid of popping it in the middle of labor by biting or clawing it or something :D

As far as a/c, I bought one of those window units for Brian for Father's Day last year because he has to try and sleep during the day in this heat since he works nights and then about a month ago I found one on Craigslist for $50 that we put at the other end of the house and although it is not like an artic grocery store or movie theatre, with the 4 of us and 3 dogs no one is panting or sweating right now :)

Longs in Petaluma(the one in the KMART shopping center) had some pools in their swim/pool supplies area. They did have some that you blow up, I am just not sure if they are big enough for what you need. Maybe call and ask them, that way you may not be driving all over and wasting a trip.
Not sure about the cages.
Good Luck.

I have not used a pool to labor in before but the ones I linked to have been recommended by others who have used them for labor and they were all heavier for me and mentioned they did lean on the sides. Generally they are used indoors with a tarp down and or in like a big kitchen with linoleum. I supposed with the right situation you could use it outside... I think the thick multi blow up rings would help should it spring a leak somewhere. I am not a big thrashed though so that should help also. That and I only intend to use it for like 2 hours, how much damage can little ol' me do in that time?! LOL Worse case scenerio you syphin the crap out of it and get out of the pool ;) and then call those people who clean up after floods to come suck up all the rest of the water.

About a week ago, sebastopol hardware had tomato cages, and around the same time, I saw blow up pools on close-out at Target in Santa Rosa.
I have to get some more tomato cages this week, because I forgot that I planted a million tomatoes, and when they started growing, I thought they were thick basil! Now, surprise, I have 4 wine barrels packed full of tomato plants! Anyone want some tomato plants?
If I make it back to Sebastopol hardware this week, I will write again, and let you know my findings.
Forgive any typos, my 9 mo old is ripping my face off while he's nursing and I'm trying to write with one finger!
