For all you ladies who have established businesses from home...

Are any of you accepting credit cards? And if so who did/do you go thru? Is it worth it for you?

Just trying to figure out what to do for myself and my new Cookie Lee Business. I had one guest at my first party ask me if I accepted credit cards; told her I wasn't yet. So I need to figure it out! Any advice you can lend would be great! Thank You!!!! :D

I haven't had anyone ask but if they did I would just use paypal probably.

I'm actually RIGHT NOW setting up a new site for my jewelry and it will be accepting credit cards via paypal

Isn't pay pal just for web orders though? I need something I can use at/for my parties... b/c as of yet we are not allowed to sell our jewelry through our Cookie Lee websites... so everything I do is person-to-person.

Nope, if you have a Paypal account tied to your bank account, you can receive $$$. You don't need one to send money but you do to receive. Just give them your email address and they can do a one time transaction.

I am going to start using a local Work At Home Mom & Dad owned company this month. They do have a sales office but do most of their work from home. They are in Santa Rosa, and they have 2 very cute little boys.

They are very reliable, I met Regan throught The Parent Pack (http://theparentpack.bravehost.com), as well as The Mom Pack (http://www.mompack.com). They do not have a high mark up like some of the merchant processing companies. I think you can get a merchant account for as low as $15 per month, and their rates per transaction are the lowest I have found as well.

Regan is who you want to talk to if you are interested. Here is their site: http://www.alliedmerchantservices.org

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that info Tina! I will give Regan a call to get some more specifics. Cookie Lee has one company we can go through but we can use whoever we want... so if I can find a better "deal/situation" that would be nice.

Ann: If you don't already have it, I'd go buy QuickBooks by Intuit. I got it last night to organize my photography income/expense and it's great. I got it at the Offie Depot by Bestbuy... I paid $99 for it and got a $75 mail in rebate!!

Jackie, Quickbooks is just the thing for small businesses! It's an awesome, customizable, expandable, user friendly program. If you need any help with setup let me know. Remember I was telling you about my own business dream? Check out my new website...

thanks for that jackie! i have to go to office depot this week (probably going friday) so i'll pick it up! i don't have anything like that yet to keep track of my business stuff.

And... I will hopefully be ready to accept credit cards (master card & visa) in time for your party Jackie! :fingerscrossed so let your mom know that way if she places an order she can give the order, her card # and mailing address, ph # to you and we can take care of her order that way!

okay... thanks! I have a paypal account only b/c I paid for my SCM senior membership that way! I haven't used it since!

here's something funny... after posting about getting quick books I remembered seeing a start-up window for it on a computer... so i went checking our computer and I have quickbooks! When we bought this computer it came in the software package and I didn't even know it! :duh So now I will make it my mission to figure out how to use it! And if that fails... well then I'll be calling Marisa! ;)
