.....as in I think I broke my toe. It's the toe next to the pinky, very bruised and swollen...and askew. I've done a little trolling on the internet and by all indications (and comparing my toe to Google images....blech) I think it is broken :( woe is me. Maybe I can milk some sypathy from DH.

Do I even bother getting it checked out?

You can but they won't most likely won't do anything for it... maybe prescribe you some Motrin for the pain and swelling. They typically just let the toes heal on their own.

I was at my IL's and I went to rinse off a major ketchup exlplosion and stubbed my toes on the sharp corner of the wall...so fun!

What happened to her, did she have some freaky medical mystery?no freaky medical history but it took them a long time to figure out what was wrong with her. She was stationed at the South Pole so she had limit resources and was communicating with House and his staff via satellite TV. They thought she had kidney stones, the guy (her partner stationed with her) drank her pee, he drilled a hole in her skull and eventually they figured out she had a broken toe and bone marrow leaking into her blood was the reason why she was having all these odd symptoms. They never noticed the broken toe before because it was so cold and of course she always had socks on.

aww that sucks Erin...mine is just now to where I can wear some loose fitting shoes...but it gets sore after I take the shoes off...I read it is pretty pointless to go to the doc for, that it will take 8-10 weeks to fully be pain free...mine was bruised for the first two and now it's still swollen, and still a bit of pain if I try and bend it, but I can walk without pain now and it feels best in sandals...so how did you do it?

i stubbed them on a sharp corner:( I called the advice nurse and she said ice, elevate...blah blah which is oh so easy with a 13 month old running around! Her's a pic for you and Brooke's viewing pleasure! I spared you my other two toes which are even uglier.

you can try taping your toes together - the support sometimes helps the pain. Unless contraindicated, Ibuprofen is better than Tylenol. They have these icy patches that are like big bandaid for muscles - but I bet you could fold it around the front of your foot and it'd be cool.

Thanks :) , yes I taped my 'buddy" toes together, even though the advice nurse said not to and to wear loose fitting shoes instead :shake I've been taking Advil...but it's hard to elevate and ice with Mr. P around.

We actually went to bed at 10:30, which is early for us. DH got home around 9 and I knew he would have a conniption if I logged back on..after being on ALLL DAY and the house looks tornandoed....plus he was all puzzled as to why I had drunk a beer.
