Hi there! I just wanted to share this information with anyone who may find it useful...
FISH is an organization that helps families out with food once a month. You call the number (527-5151) between 10:30 am and 1:30pm and let them know you'd like to pick up food, but haven't been there before.. they ask a few questions (name, birthdate, people in your family... nothing personal and no financial info needed ;) ) and then you go pick it up! It gives you aprox 3 days worth of food, and most of it is still good (though you may have to toss an orange or something in a bag of many)... They usually have some canned goods, TONS of bread, eggs... most of their stuff comes from Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Safeway...

It's REALLY easy to do, and it's nice that they don't ask financial info.. they figure if you need it you need it, regardless of how much $$ you made last month...

The address is 1055 Benton St (near the YMCA in Santa Rosa) and at the first visit they give you a card, and you just need to bring it and your ID each month when you go to collect... but you HAVE to call before you go in each month, as they have the bags set up and ready to go when you pick up.... I don't think I'm missing anything, but if you have any ?s feel free to as or PM me ;)

I'm not sure about donations of any kind.. you could always call and ask ;) I think food they only take from the stores, but not sure about non food items...
Pick up is from 10:30 am to 2 pm ... you just have to be sure to call before you go to pick up.. and the wait isn't that bad, maybe 10 min or so. It's an outside window you walk up to and they give you a bag of the staples, and then you get a few choices of what they have in stock that day

I am pretty sure they take donations...I have seen folks walk up with items and i *think* i have seen stuff up about them accepting donations....I am sure they wouldnt turn things away..and they RARELY (as in the whole time I have gone have never had) diapers to give...and often times run out of formula and baby food to offer...

thanks for posting. I was just thinking about this last night and I know this is something we can use once a month ourselves.
